North (I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review)The fourth book in this series didn't disappoint or let up on the action, excitement or horror! I am the writer of a zombie-themed series of books, and this one gave me a nightmare in which I fought, and was chased by, zombies all night. Can't remember this happening to me before. Long's story maintained all the humor, memorable characters and horrific action that are his trademarks.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Slow down and deliver a better book next time. By J. Hall I've enjoyed the series so far, but this one felt rushed and sloppy. I know it's tough as an independent writer, but spend the money (or at least more time) on the editorial process. I appreciate getting each new book quickly, but I'd have been happy to wait a couple more weeks and get a tighter, more polished final product. One particular scene where Creed was in the truck getting slammed back into the seat, but the next sentence he was standing outside the truck, with the driver revving the engine, for example. Hard to stay engrossed when sloppy errors like that pull you back to reality. Nonetheless I'll keep buying Mr. long's stories. Just hoping he tightens up his editing.

The great, likable characters hooked me from the beginning & the addition of "shufflers" (fast moving Z's with leadership abilities) up the ante past the usual, outrun-them-at-a-slow-trot, dead peeps.If you like a good Z story, you can't go wrong with Z-Risen. If you are new to the series, start with Book 1 & get the backstory. It's become an auto-buy for me. Can't wait for Book 5!
