He’s always doing his best to protect all the other kings, while they all find their mates, or just cause trouble. Love, love, love Rhi, and don’t think we’ll ever find out who her dragon lover was. AND, as always, trying to figure out if Ulrik is good or evil.I love Thorn and Lexi, (as well as Darius.) LOL, and it’s nothing for the two of them to kill 80 or 100 Dark Fae a night, while doing all they can to protect the humans and keep themselves hidden from the humans.Part 2 I’m not so sure about Ulrik (even though he said Con would have to die for what he did) but I KNOW I hate his uncle Mikkel. What a total self-centered, murderous ass he is. I can’t wait for him to die. I also hate Balladyn and Taraeth. I’d like to say I wish the dragons would crush them all but then the war would be over and that’s half the fun of reading these books. Besides, the Kings get such joy out of killing the Dark a hundred at a time. Can’t take their fun away from them.Part 3I’m getting more and more upset with Rhi. If she’s going to turn dark I’ll have to be done with this series. And I’m leaning towards Ulrik being evil. His thoughts are just not sounding like a good guy. I wish Rhi had killed him when she had him on the floor.Anyway, the story got better and better and I couldn’t wait to get to part 4 after what happened in the shop at Draegan. It was exciting and terrible at the same time.Part 4When the 4th book came to an end I was sooo miserable. It did tell Thorn and Lexi’s story but, as usual, it left so many unanswered questions. I can hardly wait to read more about the Reapers, about Cael and Daire. At least, I hope DG tells us about them in the Dragon King books because I won't be reading the Reaper books, since they're written in the first person. I can't read about dragons, the fae, vampires, historical novels written like the person is part of that life. So, here's hoping we get to read about them with the dragon kings. That was some kind of ending between Darius and Sophie. Whew!

This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and by Donna Grant. This is my first book ever by Donna Grant and even though I am coming in at book seven, there are enough details provided in order for me to enjoy the story. I am definitely interested enough, though, that I want to go back to the beginning. I do love sexy dragon shifters.“It wasn’t the first time Lexi had been alone, and she doubted it would be the last. It was as if it were her destiny to spend her life by herself.”Lexi and her three friends have gone to Edinburgh for vacation. But Lexi’s friend, Christina, was murdered while they were there. Lexi saw the murderer, something that haunts her. It was a man with red, evil eyes. Her other two friends have gone home to the United States but Lexi is determined to find the murderer. So she spends her days combing the streets. She’s not sleeping and has worn herself down to nothing. The red eyed ones are in front of her apartment so she can’t go home. It is on this day when she is trudging through the rain and she can barely keep herself upright any longer that Thorn rescues her.Thorn is a Dragon King. He is a dragon shapeshifter. They have vowed to keep humanity safe from the Dark Fae. When a human sees a Dark Fae, they feel an overwhelming attraction. They can’t fight it. And when the Dark Fae get them alone, they feed on the humans’ souls and kill them. Thorn and his partner Darius, stay in the shadows, trying to stay hidden, but spend every waking moment killing as many Dark Fae as they can. This is how they saw Lexi following the fae. She didn’t realize the danger she was in. Thorn can’t just let them kill her. When he realized she was going to collapse, he rescued her.“How could a man appear sensitive and ferocious at the same time? And yet, he did. Lexi had the insane urge to rest her head on his chest. A chest that a black shirt was stretched tight over hard muscles.”This is just the beginning of a four part series, and just the beginning of Lexi and Thorn’s story. Lexi is so brave and stubborn; her only agenda is to avenge the murder of her friend. There is something there between the two of them and I can’t wait to see how it develops. Again, there is much back story that I have missed in the previous books but I look forward to seeing what happens with these two. I’m also very interested in Thorn’s friend Darius. There is definitely a story there. So I can’t wait to move on to part two and see what happens next.

Dragon Kings and Dark Fae By The Bookend Family 4 out of 5 starsReview by: Stacy PalmThis is the first book I've read from Donna Grant, however, I've been watching her career for years. I'm so glad I finally picked up one of her books and that is in part due to the way she is releasing this novel, in four short parts. Man, does this hook you in to the story! Now I don't know anything about this "world", but I was able to quickly jump in and not feel like I was sinking. Sure, there are some background situations I'm missing, but the author does a really good job of not making you feel like you’re missing anything. This is an exciting story in which the Dragon Kings are trying to save our world from the Dark Fae who seem bent on starting a new fae war. It is a unique venture into the dark paranormal romance that I love. The men are muscled and oh so dreamy. Being part 1 of 4 makes it a quick afternoon read, which I really enjoyed, but I'm also very glad I had part 2 on hand (because I immediately continued into it.Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title. I'm having some system errors right now, but will have the above review posted to our blog, amazon, goodreads, librarything, bookshout, riffle, medium, as well as twitter and facebook shortly.
