The Go-to Resource for Navigating the Process of Completing and Filing Form 1023 By Henry Flood I have used Anthony Mancuso's How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation many times in its various editions over the past 25 years or so. Among many choices available, it is the go-to resource before you look at others or seek more specialized assistance. It is relatively inexpensive, especially relative to hugely expensive guides from the major law book publishers.I have found that the author's advice is accurate, current and especially helpful in terms of compliance with the complicated steps necessary to complete and assemble the Form 1023. I have filed many Form 1023 applications over the past 40 years and using Mancuso's book in conjunction with the IRS forms and instructions is always helpful in ensuring that you don't forget something really important.

The Canal du Midi, which threads through southwestern France and links the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, was an astonishing feat of seventeenth-century engineering--in fact, it was technically impossible according to the standards of its day. Impossible Engineering takes an insightful and entertaining look at the mystery of its success as well as the canal's surprising political significance. The waterway was a marvel that connected modern state power to human control of nature just as surely as it linked the ocean to the sea.

The Canal du Midi is typically characterized as the achievement of Pierre-Paul Riquet, a tax farmer and entrepreneur for the canal. Yet Chandra Mukerji argues that it was a product of collective intelligence, depending on peasant women and artisans--unrecognized heirs to Roman traditions of engineering--who came to labor on the waterway in collaboration with military and academic supervisors. Ironically, while Louis XIV and his treasury minister Jean-Baptiste Colbert used propaganda to present France as a new Rome, the Canal du Midi was being constructed with unrecognized classical methods. Still, the result was politically potent. As Mukerji shows, the project took land and power from local nobles, using water itself as a silent agent of the state to disrupt traditions of local life that had served regional elites.

Impossible Engineering opens a surprising window into the world of seventeenth-century France and illuminates a singular work of engineering undertaken to empower the state through technical conquest of nature.

Review Co-Winner of the 2012 Distinguished Scholarly Publication Award, American Sociological AssociationHonorable Mention for the 2010 Mary Douglas Prize for Best Book in the Sociology of Culture Section category, American Sociological Association"[T]his is a scintillating blend of cultural, political, and technological history."--Choice"Mukerji opens a new chapter in the history of the Canal du Midi, aiming to deepen understanding of its design and construction, and also of the related social and gender patterns. Furthermore, this important book also both stresses the concept of distributed knowledge/collective intelligence, and provides a deeper understanding of the impersonal power of structures. Mukeji demonstrates the necessity to pursue studies such as this with an open mind and a critical attitude."--Michel Cotte, Reviews in History"Impossible Engineering is an insightful meditation on the nature of stewardship, the sociology of knowledge, and the role of accountability in seventeenth-century France, and an extraordinary proof of how rich and challenging the history of material constructions can be."--Sophus A. Reinert, Economic History Review"Mukerji's analysis of the building of the canal is a tour de force of both historical and sociological research. Based on extensive and imaginative archival research and also on astute observation of the built landscape, it is written in vigorous prose and illustrated by the author's beautiful and informative photographs. It ranks as a significant and highly original contribution to historical and cultural sociology."--William H. Sewell, Jr., American Journal of Sociology"Chandra Mukerji crosses intellectual and disciplinary boundaries with incredible ease, mobilizing a vast array of scholarship to tackle historical cases in a new way."--Frederic Graber, Technology and Culture

    From the Back Cover

"Impossible Engineering is a masterful work. Mukerji gives us a convincing, original explanation of the baffling technological feat of the construction of the Canal du Midi. She elegantly combines science and technology studies, cultural history, cognitive science, and sociology to show us how cultural memory and collective intelligence contributed to marvels of engineering that no single group of experts could have accomplished. A must-read."--Karin Knorr Cetina, University of Chicago

"Mukerji brings phenomenal scope and originality to the story of the Canal du Midi. Demonstrating how a material object can be the result of collective social intelligence, she provides a model for how to write a new kind of history of science and technology. She brings together material and intellectual history and connects, in an exemplary way, the history of material objects to the development of new patterns of thought and social organization."--Pamela H. Smith, Columbia University

"Impossible Engineering offers a fascinating account of the planning, construction, and interpretation of a major public-works project in seventeenth-century France. Mukerji stresses the participation of many people who have often have been written out of this story, especially the peasant workforce, which included a significant contingent of women. She also raises large general issues about the modes and limitations of human interaction with the natural world. I read this book with great pleasure."--Harriet Ritvo, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

"Drawing on a vast array of original archival data, Impossible Engineering offers an elegant and original analysis of a feat of engineering, the construction of the Canal du Midi. Mukerji weaves various strands of the story with impressive dexterity to produce an account that is undoubtedly that of a scholar at the top of her game. This is a fascinating and theoretically significant study."--Michèle Lamont, Harvard University

She is the author of Territorial Ambitions and the Gardens of Versailles, A Fragile Power: Scientists and the State (Princeton), and From Graven Images: Patterns of Modern Materialism.

Excellent Book - filled with history, technology, anecdotes By Tom Mullen This excellent books highlights how the Canal du Midi was a mind blowing concept for local farmers - the fact that powerful people (from the north of France, no less) planned to tame and control nature in a way that would be advantageous for both rich and poor. Not only does it tell the odd story of how a retired tax collector set out to make this dream of hydraulic engineering come true, but includes the bizarre truth that illiterate seasonal workers - mountain women from the Pyrenees - retained a grasp on fundamental hydraulic engineering concepts, likely from maintaining the vestiges of ancient Roman irrigation canals. This is a well researched book that provides the deserved tribute to those who dared construct the Canal du Midi. I visited the canal last year for research on a fiction book, and found this work essential for understanding, and for gaining respect for, this gorgeous waterway. Nice job. ([...])

Trevelyan This extraordinary account of a fascinating engineering enterprise reveals the extraordinary complexity of major engineering projects in the past, and the extensive networks of people whose contributions have to be aligned to the overall vision, itself a shared idea among many diverse and influential actors. This is a valuable guide for contemporary engineering projects on a large geographic scale. As a researcher and engineer, I find that this book is one of the most interesting and rewarding I have read. I found that Google Earth was a wonderful companion for exploring the contemporary canal, with its photos and street view capabilities, and also providing the local elevation to understand the complex system of locks and water supply reservoirs.

Fredrich The Canal du Midi was, in its day, as much an engineering marvel as the Panama Canal is in ours. The canal provided an interior connection between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean for the people of Southern France, eliminating the need for a longer, more expensive and more dangerous trip through the Straits of Gibraltar. This well-written book does an excellent job of documenting the engineering, economic, political, and social dimensions of a project that was an unbelievable undertaking for its time and which survives today as a recreational resource for local people and visitors from around the world.

Late in the 21st century, the United Continental States of America (or UCSA), comprising the former USA, Canada and Mexico, is running smoothly: unemployment has been all but eradicated, terrorism is quashed in the country, and internal dissent diminishes by the day. Most people thank President Meyers for this. Many can no longer remember when there was last an election, but as long as he keeps the country safe from the terrorist group Hariq Jihad (‘Fire War’), this seems a small price to pay. Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Jackson is the model Marine: highly trained, absolutely efficient, and unquestioningly dedicated to his country. The only thing he can conceive of putting before his nation is his family, his wife Courtney and two daughters Maya and MacKenzie. Conscripted into the personal security detail of President Meyers, he begins to get glimpses that not everyone is as content with the current situation as he is, but attributes this to terrorist agitation and fringe lunacy. When his older daughter Maya begins to question the creeping erosion of personal liberties and the revoking of democratic rights, however, he begins to fear for her safety, as well as his own and that of his family. In a climate in which entire families disappear due to minor offenses, one can’t be too careful. The tensions between liberty and safety, between family and country, will force Jackson to rethink all his beliefs, and lead to a collision with the system he has dedicated his life to serving. Fire War is a suspenseful, gripping and unnerving examination of the paradoxes of power, the price of liberty, and the dictates of conscience. The world you live in will never look the same again.

From the Inside Flap Fire War   Reviewed by Lynn Evarts; Clarion Foreward Reviews December 7, 2015 This intriguing, futuristic thriller conceives of a terrifying future for the United States. In his thought-provoking book Fire War, T. T. Michael creates a country where the highest office is no longer elected by the populace and there is no longer unemployment--where the only real fear is of the terrorist group Hariq Jihad (Fire War). Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Jackson is charged with protecting the president of the United Continental States of America (UCSA). As Jackson comes to the realization that not everyone is happy with the current situation in the country, everything he holds dear is imperiled. What will happen to the country, and Jackson, if the concepts of personal liberty and the safety of the country cannot be balanced? Michael's futuristic political thriller has a chilling ring of truth to it. As current events unfold, comparing Michael's fiction with today's reality sometimes becomes overwhelming. Michael describes a world where personal liberties and individual rights have vanished for the good of the group. No one has a say in who runs the country or what decisions are made by the president, a man that everyone trusts...but should they? Tapping into our fears and trepidations, Michael has written a story that hits close to home for anyone who follows current events. In one instance, he writes that "immigrants had to learn that the only way into the UCSA was the legal way, and that they would risk death by trying anything else." Anthony Jackson is an interesting protagonist. He is a rule-following, hard-charging marine who clearly loves his family and country. He takes his position guarding the president very seriously, yet he seems to ignore some of the signs of impending trouble that one would expect a razor-sharp military man to catch. This seems to be Michael's way of creating a Greek tragedy format: the chorus singing warnings in the background, with the fallible hero ignoring them until it is almost too late. Jackson's struggles with his daughters, particularly Maya and her "radical" ideas of personal freedoms, feel real. Even into this future, teens are still testing limits and putting their parents in difficult situations. Jackson's everyday family life adds significantly to the tension of the story by making us know about and care for the people he is most interested in protecting...after the president, of course. Thriller fans will find this book intriguing and, to some extent, terrifying in its plausible predictions for our future in the United States.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. good read By jen wroniak Anything that has a disaster type theme to it i'm always game to read, this book included. It's a good book to read in between series like I did, especially before getting into another set of series books. Book description fits the book completely and it's consistently suspenseful. It examines the paradoxes of power, the price of liberty, and the dictates of conscience. Although what happens in the book I really hope never really actually happens, but it could always happen depending on how the world keeps going. But defiantly a good buy, author & book!

Thrilling, surprising, exciting, chilling are some of the words I that describe this book. It is a plot one would hope never really happens, but recognize that it is not at all an impossible scenario. A definite page turner, it was difficult to put down. Fire War will keep you engrossed and a little on-edge while reading it, and remain in your thoughts long after you complete it. That in my estimation is the mark of a well-written book.

By Andrew Geller I've been a GMAT tutor in NYC and online for over ten years and am the founder of Atlantic GMAT (100% GMAT 0%BS!). Comment with any questions! The OG 2016 is an excellent purchase for those seeking the best possible GMAT practice material. Keep in mind that this is essentially a question bank MEANT FOR PRACTICE and has VERY LIMITED TEACHING MATERIAL. That said, the questions in this book are absolutely the best thing to practice on. Avoid third party/non-official questions as they lack the nuances of the real deals (especially verbal questions). Here’s what we’re going to cover in the review:1. Official Guide 2016 vs Official 2017. Is it worth waiting for the new Official Guide?2. Kindle vs. Paperback -Which version is better and why -What are the ISSUES with the KINDLE VERSION. (The CORRECTED KINDLE ANSWER KEY can be downloaded from my website).3. What other official GMAT resources should you consider buying.4. What you can/can't do with the online question bank (included with the book)5. New questions broken down by category*****************************************Official Guide 2016 vs Official 2017************************************The short answer is: Don’t wait, buy the 2016 edition. The new guide (2017) will have some unreleased questions but those questions aren’t necessarily any better than the questions that they are replacing in the older guide. Will doing that handful of newer questions actually impact your score? I seriously doubt it. The 2016 books will also likely be less expensive than the 2017 ones. I wouldn’t fight the special. Here’s the exception: Are you the type of person who will not rest easy knowing that there is the possibility of having the slightest, basically undetectable, only theoretical edge? Do you need the absolute best of the best, newest of the new? Are you fine with paying the surcharge? Rest easy. Buy the new edition! The point is: no harm will come from sticking with the 2016 guide or from buying the new one. But, why wait and pay more for essentially the same thing? Will I be getting the new guide? Of course! I have an archive of every GMAT question from the last 10 years. But, I’m a GMAT tutor looking for every advantage possible for my students regardless of cost. And for me it isn’t 2016 vs 2017. I buy everything (except for AWA and IR materials).*********************************************Kindle vs. Paperback********************************************Kindle by a mile! You will be taking your GMAT staring at a computer screen so practice as you will play by staring at a computer screen while working on HW. This makes a difference. Beyond that, the kindle version is in the cloud so you can access it anywhere. No need to carry around a massive set of books. And: save some trees!THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE KINDLE VERSIONS. These issues are mostly related to the Kindle format, not the guide itself. Some of the math equations are small. That said, I have been using the kindle versions for years without an issue. Neither I nor any student has EVER been unable to read an equation. The examples in some of the other reviews are cell phone pictures that are not representative and make the equations look far worse than they are. The kindle version is still the best option! The other issue is that the answer key numbering is wrong. Well, not really wrong, but hard to read. It looks like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and then instead of “10” the key flips back to “0”. Then “11” isn’t “11” but “1”. So you can find the answers but it is annoying. But (drum roll please), I created a new CORRECTED ANSWER SHEET for Official Guide 2016. I can’t post links here but you can download it from the OG 2016 review on the Atlantic GMAT site.**********Besides OG2016, Official GMAT resources you should consider buying**********For most people, these four resources are essential:GMATPrep Question Pack 1 [Online Code] (big question bank that lets you sort questions by difficult and type. You can create mini-tests that are great for getting you close to competition mode).GMATPrep Exam Pack 1 [Online Code](Official GMAT Practice test with official questions and scoring algorithm. This is the same as a real GMAT).Exam Pack 2 (Same deal as Exam Pack 1. Two more Official Tests)Atlantic GMAT Practice Pad + 2 Markers (You should do all of your tests with the same GMAT scratch pad that you’ll use on test day)In addition, these last two are for students who want to eak out that last 1%:GMAT Focus Online Quantitative Diagnostic Tool: Bundle of 3 [Online Code] (These are computer adaptive Quant quizzes. Buy the bundle of three.)GMAT Paper Test Set 1 [Download] (Retired GMAT paper tests. The Quant is too easy but the verbal is helpful. Don’t do the reading comprehension as it overlaps with the GMAT Prep 1 and 2).Official GMAT resources are limited (especially practice tests). DO NOT WASTE THEM!!! Before you start blasting practice tests go ahead and make a study plan and consider at what point it would make sense to take tests. In general, take one test at the beginning of your studies to get a baseline score and to get a sense for the exam. Then, work on your fundamentals. Have a good strategy for most of the GMAT questions types. After you are in a good rhythm, start taking practice tests. Every case is different, but consider getting into practice test mode about 4 weeks before your GMAT.************************************Online GMAT Question Bank********************************************All of the questions from the Official Guide 2016 are available in an online question bank. At first I couldn’t figure out where the question bank was located. I even googled it and found pretty much nothing. Frustration! Flipping to the back of the OG 2016 I noticed a secret pouch containing my personal access code along with the question bank website: GMAT.Wiley.comWhat you can do with the GMAT online question bank:-Set up a practice set with any combination of questions and order of difficulty.-Name your sessions so that you can return to them at a later date for review. It would have been nice if the questions were categorized so that you could set up targeted quizzes. I imagine that GMAC already has this information so why not include it? Also - no internet means no question bank. That is very unfortunate considering you really should be doing most of your practice eyeballing a computer screen as you will on the real GMAT CAT. Also keep in mind that you only have access to the online question bank for 1 year.***********************************Official Guide 2016 Question Breakdown***********************************-201 brand new questions (I recognized a handful but couldn't quite place them - could be from tests I've taken, from some legacy product, or actually a new question that is a very close clone of an old one).-Problem solving questions mostly centered in medium difficulty (no new questions past #153)-Lots of substitutions in PS Geometry. Slight boost for combinatorics and overlapping sets.-New Reading Comprehension passages mostly long and difficult. Excellent additions.-Critical Reasoning Assumption based reasoning got a major facelift. Difficulty level increased a shade.-No big news on Sentence Correction or Data Sufficiency-Same very limited teaching material from the old edition. This is a book for practice not a book for learning.PROBLEM SOLVING - 57 New Questions/24.7%:1, 2, 3, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 25, 27, 30, 31, 33, 38, 39, 43, 44, 45, 55, 56, 57, 59, ,60, 61, 63, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 73, 76, 82, 83, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91, 97, 99, 107, 108, 111, 114, 117, 122, 125, 134, 136, 137, 139, 142, 153-Percents 1 (Percents), 11 (Percents), 55 (Percent/Word Problem), 30 (Percents/Arithmetic/Word Problem), 99 (Word Problem/Percent)-Work/Rate 59 (Work/Rate), 76 (Work/Rate),-Ratio/Proportions 19 (Ratio/Proportions), 134 (Proportions/Word Problem), 114 (Mixture)-Algebra/Arithmetic 2 (Arithmetic/Fractions), 3 (Algebraic Translation), 14 (Arithmetic), 21(Algebra/Arithmetic), 25 (Algebra/Multiple Equations), 61 (Inequalities), 66 (System of Equations)-Exponents 56 (Exponents/Word Problem), 57 (Exponents/Roots/Number Properties), 83 (Exponents), 85 (Exponents/Roots/Arithmetic), 67 (Arithmetic/Exponents), 68 (System of Equations/Exponents),-Number Properties 38 (Number Properties/Digits), 107 (Number Properties), 108 (Number Properties), 17 (Number -Properties/Absolute value/Exponents), 43 (Number Properties), 87 (Consecutive Integers)-Overlapping Sets 69 (Overlapping Sets/Percents/Word Problem),89 (overlapping sets), 91 (overlapping sets)-Combinatorics 117 (Combinatorics), 136 (Probability)-Statistics 137 (Average), 15 (Average), 88 (Average), 111 (Average)-Functions/Sequences/Formula 39 (sequence),63 (Functions/Exponents), 82 (Formula/Arithmetic), 97 (formula), 27 (Data Interpretation)-Geometry 13 (Geometry/Quadrilaterals/Word Problem), 18 (Geometry/Triangles), 31 (Geometry/Mixed Shapes), 33 (Geometry/Triangles), 44 (geometry/coordinate), 45 (Geometry/Quadrilaterals), 60 (Geometry/Coordinate), 70 (Geometry/Mixed Shapes), 73 (Geometry/Quadrilaterals), 86 (Geometry/3D Shapes), 122 (Geometry/Mixed Shapes), 125 (Geometry/Quadrilateral/Word Problem), 139 (Geometry/Quadrilateral/ratio), 142, 153 (Geometry/Coordinate),DATA SUFFICIENCY - 44 new questions / 25.2%7, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 29, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 48, 49, 51, 54, 55, 60, 64, 67, 73, 77, 80, 83, 84, 86, 92, 94, 115, 121, 134, 135, 136, 137, 150-Combinatorics 7 (probability), 73 (Geometry/Combinatorics)-Exponents 20 (Exponents), 37 (Square Root/Match the Expression/Special Quadratic), 39 (special quadratics), 41 (Exponents/Inequalities)-Geometry 136 (Coordinate), 137 (Triangles), 26 (Mixed Shapes/Quadrilateral), 27 (Coordinate), 49 (Quadrilaterals), 51 (Quadrilaterals), 115 (Mixed Shapes), 86 (3d Shapes), 77 (Geometry/Number Line)-Work/Rate 134 (Threshold/Rate/Word Problem), 84 (Average Rate)-Counting Equations 10 (Translation), 21 (Interest/Word Problem), 23 (Word Problem), 64 (Word Problem), 67 (Word Problem)-Number Properties 16 (# properties/Inequalities), 94 (Number Properties/Digits), 54 (Exponents/# Properties), 60 (# Properties),-Overlapping Sets 150 (Overlapping Sets), 29 (Overlapping Sets), 19 (Overlapping Sets)-Statistics 135 (Statistics), 14 (Statistics), 15 (Statistics), 92 (Average)-Threshold 48 (Threshold/Work), 46 (Threshold/Word Problem), 34 (Threshold), 80 (Threshold)-Translation 40 (Percents), 55 (Ratio/Word Problems), 83 (Threshold), 18 (Algebra)-Formula/Function/Sequence 12 (Sequence), 38 (Formula), 121(Function/Number Properties/Exponents)OG 2016 READING COMPREHENSION- 6 new passages, 31 new Questions /22.3%Page 370 (Short)Questions 8-10Page 386 (Long)Questions 42-47Page 404 (Long)Questions 96-101Page 408 (Long)Questions 107-112Page 416 (Long)Questions 130-136Page 418 (Short)Questions 137-139OG 2016 CRITICAL REASONING - 34 new questions / 27.4%1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 21, 30, 37, 39, 41, 43, 48, 49, 53, 55, 57, 58, 60, 63, 65, 67, 70, 76, 77, 79, 81, 84, 94, 97, 100, 106, 109, 121, 124Strengthen/Weaken: 2, 3, 4, 21, 30, 37, 39 (oddball), 48, 55, 57, 60, 63, 65, 67 (oddball), 76, 77, 79, 94, 97, 106, 121, 124Assumption: 8, 37, 41, 49, 70, 84, 109Evaluate: 100Inference: 1, 53Paradox: 58Boldface: 81Fill in the Blank: 43Assumption Based: 29-Strengthen/Weaken - 21-Assumption - 7-Evaluate - 1Content Based: 5-Paradox - 1-Boldface - 1-Inference - 2-Fill in the Blank - 1OG 2016 SENTENCE CORRECTION - 35 new questions / 25%2, 4, 7, 10, 13, 18, 21, 23, 27, 28, 31, 35, 37, 42, 46, 52, 63, 66, 73, 80, 86, 90, 97, 101, 111, 116, 120, 124, 126, 128, 132, 133, 136, 137, 138

In other words, the equations are garbled to the point where you can't read them. (see photo). You have to squint your eyes to read superscripts and subscripts when dealing with exponents, for example. And that's if the values are even clear enough to begin with! Often times a you can't solve a problem don't know what the heck is written in the question stem.

GMAT Genius’ Detailed Analysis of the 2016 Official Guide By GMAT Genius The publishers of the GMAT Official Guides had asked GMAT Genius to help them improve the online versions of the Official Guides. GMAT Genius worked closely with the publishers in this effort in the weeks leading up to the release of the 2016 editions. This has given us an opportunity to thoroughly analyze the 2016 Official Guide, and we want to share our insights with you. Feel free to read our detailed analysis or to skip down to our conclusions.OVERVIEWThe Official Guides for GMAT Review contain retired real GMAT questions, and are an essential component of your GMAT preparations. The GMAC places questions in order of increasing difficulty, based on its assessment of difficulty. This book has no overlap of practice questions with the Quant and Verbal Official Guides.Unlike the 2015 edition, which contained no new questions, the 2016 edition contains 201 new questions out of the 907 total questions. Excluding the 100 questions in the Diagnostic Exam section of the book, the new questions represent 25% new content as promised by the GMAC. These are brand new questions that we have not encountered before; they are not questions recycled from older GMAC resources.PROBLEM SOLVINGThis guide contains 254 Problem Solving questions, including the 24 Problem Solving questions in the Diagnostic Exam portion of the book. The GMAC classifies question difficulty into three categories as follows:Easy – 63 (18 more than 2015 edition)Medium – 60 (41 fewer)Hard – 131 (23 more)The Problem Solving section contains 57 new questions, with difficulty of Easy / Medium / Hard as follows: 21 / 24 / 12. This is in lieu of 57 questions from the 2015 edition that have been removed, with difficulty of Easy / Medium / Hard as follows: 12 / 20 / 25. A total of 45 questions have been assigned a different difficulty than they were in the 2015 edition. Specifically, 9 Medium questions have been downgraded to Easy and 36 Medium questions have been upgraded to Hard.GMAT Genius classifies question difficulty into five categories. Our assessment of this section skews significantly easier, and contains notable differences from the GMAC’s assessment. Our difficulty assessment is only 55.5% correlated with the GMAC’s assessment, demonstrating tremendous subjectivity involved in assessing question difficulty. We break down the 156 Reading Comprehension questions as follows:Primary Purpose: 24 (1 more than 2015 edition)Author's Tone: 10 (2 more)Organization: 4 (1 more)Function: 20 (4 more)Specific Reference: 60 (8 fewer)Inference: 30 (same)Critical Reasoning: 8 (same)Here’s a list of the 31 new Reading Comprehension questions: 8 to 10, 42 to 47, 96 to 101, 107 to 112, 130 to 139OTHER NOTESThis Official Guide provides an 11-page overview of the Integrated Reasoning section, along with online access to 50 Integrated Reasoning practice questions. The IR set includes 12 new questions that we have not seen before, replacing 12 questions that were in the 2015 edition. The 50 questions consist of the following four types:Graphics Interpretation – 10 (4 changed)Multi-Source Reasoning – 18 (4 changed)Table Analysis – 6 (1 changed)Two-Part Analysis – 16 (3 changed)Here’s a list of the 12 new Integrated Reasoning questions: 12 to 15, 22, 29, 32, 33, 34, 44, 49, 50The book contains a 40-page Math Review section that provides a very high-level overview of the math concepts tested on the GMAT. This math review will be highly inadequate except perhaps for the most advanced math students. Similarly, the brief introductions to the concepts tested on the verbal section are highly inadequate. We recommend that you use additional study materials to learn the math and verbal concepts.Although all questions include answer explanations, many GMAT test takers are far from satisfied with these explanations. Math explanations can be brief and hard-to-understand for non-advanced students, and are sometimes convoluted or inefficient. Most GMAT test takers consider the Sentence Correction explanations quite cryptic. The Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension explanations, however, are reasonably good overall. The book includes an access code that provides 12-month usage of an online version of this Official Guide. Since the GMAT is a computer-based test, we believe that it is advisable to work though the questions online. We recommend that you use Exam Mode rather than Practice Mode, since we recommend that students practice using timed question sets. The online practice interface has improved from last year’s version. The publishers implemented some of our recommendations, but they did not incorporate many of our functionality improvement suggestions. One major flaw that we discussed with the book publishers, but that has not been fixed, is the inaccurate timing for “Previous Sessions.” Timing statistics are accurate when you initially review a question set, but the timing per question data is inaccurate when you later access the same question set.If you already have the 2015 edition of this book, it is debatable whether the addition of 101 new math questions and 100 new verbal questions makes this book worth purchasing. Our opinion is that advanced students will not find enough additional challenging practice to justify the purchase, but other students could purchase the book for additional practice given the relatively low cost.CONCLUSIONSThe Official Guide has three primary weaknesses, in our opinion:1) An insufficient amount of difficult practice questions, particularly based on GMAT Genius’ assessment of difficulty2) Math answer explanations that are too often either brief or convoluted and Sentence Correction explanations that are too cryptic3) Inaccurate timing data for Previous Sessions and inadequate functionality in the online practice interfaceDespite its flaws, the Official Guide is an essential source of GMAT practice. We are pleased to see 25% brand new questions in the 2016 edition. We believe that every GMAT aspirant must use this book (or the prior edition). For these reasons, we give this book a 5-star rating. For the best value, we recommend purchasing this book as part of the Official Guide Bundle (www.amazon.com/dp/1119101816/?tag=gg057-20).GMAT Genius provides significantly more analysis of the Official Guides on the GMAT Genius blog at GMATgenius.com/blog/. This book is a great tool to use in edition to the lectures By Julie This book is a great tool to use in edition to the lectures, and fairly inexpensive. The text is large and well organized for reading. I would be interested in pairing the book with an online program to help study vocabulary and declension and conjugations in the future.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Ontario Back Road Atlas By Teddi This book was amazing. I have been going to Ontario for years and should have had it before. We could look at the maps, see where we wanted to go and even though I have a GPS in my car, this enabled us to plan the route we wanted to take. Every small road is marked in the book and helped us to navigate where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not exactly what I had expected By A. Sanford This product was nice, just not exactly what I had expected. We recently drive around lake superior and this map wasn't quite as useful and easy to use as I had thought it would be. I am still glad we have it, and plan to use it more in the future for other trips to Canada.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Not enough on Northern Ontario By Martha Obenour This was rather disappointing to me as I was hoping for more on the back roads in the bush country of northern Ontario. This covers the roads of southern Ontario but the northern, area, above Sudbury, Saults Ste. Marie, North Bay, were not detailed or mapped enough to help me.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wish there were more By Ash This isn't a book, so I don't know why the book-related questions. However, these pawns are great! My only complaint is that there are many characters not represented in this collection. We were already in the second Giantslayer book when these were purchased for our group, and it turns out that many tokens are just for the first book :(

22 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Great little manual stuffed with information By CKTX Very concise. Each disorder is classified by description, risk factors if applicable, s/s, diagnostic tests, treatment and follow up. Practice pearls boxes are great. I use this to study for my FNP classes. It's a smaller book than I expected, about 9 inches tall by 6 inches or so and spiral bound.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Nice addition to current practice By Chrizzee B This is a very helpful and concise go to book. I use this in daily practice and I have been in practice for about 4 years, it almost flow like a SOAP note, signs symptoms HPI, what to look for and what assessment and plan is. I would recommend this book, only 4 stars because I think that with as much as I use it it showed wear pretty quickly.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I love this guideline book By bebobthefrog I love this guideline book. It covers so much and I can quickly find topics that I need help with.
