This was not a short story but rather a teaser of an introduction to possibly a real short story. There was no character development; no real plot. Authors who write such teasers should be forthcoming and let the readers know their intentions.

When there are errors on almost every page beginning with page one, you won't get a reader to finish the book. Spellcheck doesn't cut it - when you call a man a 'she' multiple times (among other simple mistakes), you really need a proofreader. I feel for the author - I couldn't get past the errors to attempt to read the story.

By SuePhilly I started my own business a year ago and to guide me through the process joined an expensive year long mentoring/training program for entrepreneurs and a more expensive business coach. These strategies were very helpful, however, what was missing was the bigger picture of the phases of growing a business to scale and what actions you need to take at which phases and why. What I value about this book is that it's written in layman's terms and it is PRACTICAL. This will be my business Bible. Check out Frank's videos too. He's the real deal.

By Jared Therrien Short version: if you want to learn hypnosis, erotic or otherwise, buy this book.Long version: Excellent followup to his first book. Covers a lot of the same material, but greatly expands on most. The format is a lot different as the entire book is organized into stand alone chapters. Because of this you can read it in any order you like, even skipping entirely sections that dont interest you. Even if you never want to do anything erotic with hypnosis, you will still love this book. He presents everything in the "vanilla" context first, then goes into the erotic variants.

By Chew Toy It may not be entirely obvious from the blurb, but this is essentially a collection of notes for different talks or seminars to be given at conferences, about different aspects of erotic and recreational hypnosis; it's sort of the 201 classes to Mind Play's 101 Intro. This means that each chapter can stand on its own; and, that even if you're experienced with hypnosis and/or kinky play, you're likely to find something useful here, from new ideas for your use to ways of organizing the things you already know to teach them to other people.

Chapter on presentation tips is worth the five-star rating on its own By An Amazon Customer I am reading this book now in the Kindle Unlimited program. I had intended to scan through it for some quick background information on erotic hypnotism for an article I'm writing, but I've found this book to be much more substantial and better-written than I would have ever guessed. The chapter that provides tips for presentations is worth a full five-star rating all on its own. In fact, I'd encourage the author to consider adapting and publishing just that section for a general audience. It would be a gift to the universe if he could save even one person from getting trapped in a Death by Powerpoint session. I found the information on erotic hypnotism to be presented in an easy-to-understand conversational, but not superficial, manner. I'm sure if you are interested in teaching or learning about the subject this guide is a must-have.

Best Fantasy Romance of 2015 By Paranormal Trance Reviews If you've made it this far then you might find yourselves filled with a lot of reader's angst after the epic plot twist in A Faerie's Secret.  I was extremely apprehensive  whilst waiting on this release and  wondering if it were even possible to follow up something so emotionally and mentally stunning with a story to do it justice.  It went above and beyond to surpass all expectations and hopes. I enjoyed it so much that I read it twice in a day!In this spin off of the original Creepy Hollow series, everything we once took at face value is challanged. And while these inventive ideas push us to explore different territory of the fae realm, it does so without altering our already ingrained ideas of Creepy Hollow.  It instead expands into an entirely new adventure,  presenting new perspectives from characters in the background of the original series. The smooth flowing prose and dynamics of it are flawless!Calla is probably the strongest heroine I've read about and it has little to do with a snarky attitude or physical strength. For Calla to always maintain control of her special ability and keep it a secret, she must be vigilant mentally and emotionally at all times. Not being able to control it can have deadly consequences and her traumatic past has proven it. She's not your every day, run of the mill guardian. She second guesses everything. She needs to know that before she takes action that it is deserved or necessary. Her empathy makes her the perfect mate for someone like Chase.Chase will steal your heart and confuse everything you thought you knew about right and wrong. Your heart will break for him time and again.I adore how realistically situations were handled between Chase and Calla. And how emotions weren't rushed to try to squeeze in a 'Happily Ever After'.It is inventive, fast paced, and enthralling.  It never lacks action, and it never becomes confusing with overloaded scenes. It touches base with real world dilemmas we often face as a society and throws us into the hearts of the villians. I've seen this strategy before, but until now I had not seen it perfected!A Faerie's Revenge is hands down the must read novel of 2015! The Creepy Hollow series has officially secured its spot as the most addictive books I've ever read. This is literally the best story I've read all year and one of the best Fantasy Romance stories of all time.

A perfect continuation of a great series - this is NOT a "middle book" By HeatherAK I picked up my first Rachel Morgan Creepy Hollow book because of the cover. I've stayed ever since because of the stories. The whole series (and all of her books) are so fresh and true. She never strays into tropes, I never feel as if she is simply retelling story already told a thousand times by other authors. She writes true characters, with honest conflicts, and I love traveling through the book with them to see what happens.A Faerie's Revenge is no different. Both Chase and Calla are trying to overcome things in their past. Their interactions with each other are genuine, and I never felt like the author was coming up with twists simply to keep them apart. Their issues are real, and their reactions to each other feel true.I love the world that Rachel Morgan has created in Creepy Hollow. I wish I could go visit, though I don't think I'm kick-butt enough to survive.I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys great characterization, real relationships (romantic and otherwise), all surrounded with a touch of magic.This novel is part of a series, and if you're truly going to understand the conflict, I highly recommend reading the series in order. Believe me, you won't regret it. The whole series is readable, and very re-readable - which is the highest recommendation I can make.Novel is clean, with no objectionable scenes or language.I received a complementary copy of the book for my review (my first time I can say that! And with one of my favorite authors, I'm so proud!)

By Amazon Customer This was an exciting and fantastic sequel to A Faerie's Secret that will leave you begging for the next book in the series! Rachel Morgan has done it yet again, and crafted a wonderful book that has nonstop action, adventure, and romance. Her writing is gorgeous, with every scene richly described, and the way she writes her characters...well it's safe to say that you'll fall in love with all of them even more after reading this installment in the Creepy Hollow series.This book picks up right where we left off in A Faerie's Secret. Calla is still reeling from the shocker over Chase's identity, and she is doing everything in her power to try and forget all about him. However, that's not going so well, as basically everything she does reminds Calla of Chase. Suddenly, a mysterious illness spreads like wildfire throughout Creepy Hollow, and it spells TROUBLE for Calla. I had no idea where Ms. Morgan was going to take this book, but this went in such an amazing direction. I loved how unexpected this story was, and I never knew what was going to happen next. Many series might have become boring by now, but Ms. Morgan is an expert at storytelling, and easily sweeps you off your feet while reading this story. The story is fast-paced, but never confusing, and everything about the story is extremely well-developed. You can see how much time and effort Ms. Morgan put into creating this novel.However, where this book truly shines is in its characters. Calla has come a remarkably long way since the previous book, and I applaud Ms. Morgan for the growth that Calla has experienced. She has never once lost her optimistic and hopeful nature. Calla wants to fix everything and never stops trying. Even though she suffers a lot of downfalls and has many crazy times, she never once stops being her determined self. Chase is also amazing in this novel. I loved him in the last book, and after the revelation of his true identity, I had no idea what to think. You honestly can't help but love him. After all of the events of his past, he is still looking for redemption. He has a way to go, but he's off to an amazing start. He has already made great strides to creating a better future for himself and the people around him, and my heart broke for him so many times.The one thing that I love about Rachel Morgan's writing is how she reminds every reader that there is more to the world than you think. There is a recurring theme in this book of Calla realizing that the world isn't black and white. There are many gray areas, and that nothing is truly as it seems...whether that means other people or the world you live in. At the end of the day though, as Calla says, it comes down to choosing the "brighter colors in life."I highly recommend checking this book out if you're a fan of the Creepy Hollow series. You will not want to miss out on this exciting adventure that Calla and Chase embark on, and you will never guess how it will all end. I am so excited for the next book in the series, and to see where Rachel Morgan takes the story!Happy reading :)

Ms Bolter has now begun to heavily populate this story with characters, backstories and plots from her three aforementioned serials. If you've already read them, you should be able to follow this story. If not, I would highly recommend reading them first and then come back to this series. If you haven't at least read the first ten installments of Engaged to the Vampire Twin, PLEASE STOP HERE.This is the eleventh installment of Rosette Bolter's dark and mysterious series, Engaged To The Vampire Twins. And yes, this is a serial with cliffhangers just like your favorite TV shows. Remember Dara Mills from Bolter's Worshiped By The Bear Kings serial? Well, she's back and now has her own series. The sassy, snarky Dara is now trying to move on with her life and put the murder of her brother, Jake behind her. It has been a very difficult year since his death and Dara has made quite a few changes. She has left her old boyfriend Dennis Whiley behind, now has her own apartment and a new job at a prestigious law firm, Hall and Evans. The past has taken quite a toll on Dara. She is no longer the social butterfly of her wild youth but is instead, somewhat of a recluse. Having witnessed the strange world of the paranormal and experienced the danger and death first hand, she no longer desires the exposure to anything supernatural. So when an unexpected package mysteriously appears at her door from the wealthy entrepreneur, Brandon Drake, she is more than a little puzzled. Inside the package is a dress and a note telling her that he's waiting for her downstairs in his limo. She's never even met the man and certainly has no intention of getting into his limo or ever dating him. What the heck? But never say never! Because as it turns out, it wasn't Brandan, it was his psychotic twin brother, Brendan and they are both vampires! Huh? And to make matters worse, Brendan has just kidnapped Dara - AGAIN! Why Dara's old flame, Dennis Whiley, of course! I know ya'll remember Dennis from Bolter's Worshiped by the Bear Kings Series and he also had a small part in Shared by the Dragon Clan Series. And now, Dara is Jasmine and Jasmine is Dara. Huh? How in the name of the goddess did that happen? Brandon survived his injuries and is working with Brendan again but who will the brothers believe??? The woman who looks like Dara or the one who looks Jasmine??? And to add even more spice to this explosive cocktail, Brandon is Brendan, no that's not right - Brandan is pretending to be Brendan - again! Great Caesar's ghost, what a cluster fluster! I bet you thought I was going to say something else, didn't you! Can Dara somehow convince the brothers that she's not Jasmine? Will Brandan kill his love Dara, thinking she's really Jasmine? And talk about the mother of all cliffhanger endings! What a heart pounding plot twist! I never saw that one coming! OMG! I almost fell out of my chair! And what in the world has happened to Jasmine Whiley aka Countess Madeline aka who in the world knows who else she is? How in the world did Jasmine and the Bear Kings get involved in this? Is Jasmine really doing all these terrible things or could someone be impersonating Jasmine as well? And what is the connection between the vampire twins and Jet Strongarm? And now, Master Synrith has mysteriously reappeared along with Hades of the Destair, sisters Cheryl and Sophie Thames, evil witch/vampiress Hylee Chandra, lion-shifter Lynette Thistle, panther-shifter Gaspar Travis, Quraal, Professor Hess the Mage, Jasmine's brother Jake and Lady Glowshark with her time portal! And what in the world is Dennis up to??? What the heck? Who is the real puppet master in this dark and evil cabal? Well, it's always darkest before the dawn but the sun is peeking above the horizon. In Book Nine we finally received a glimpse behind the veil shrouding the puzzling change in behavior of Jasmine Whiley! Jasmine has been desperately trying to set right her own timeline by manipulating past and future people and events, and apparently doesn't care who gets hurt in the process! But at least we finally discover who is initially responsible for Jasmine's sudden change from good to evil and why. And poor Dara! She's also traveled to the past and is trying to correct her timeline to save her brother Jake. She's like a cat with nine lives but keeps losing every one of them! Even with a head start and a case filled with money, Dara just can't seem to save herself or anyone else! Hylee/Jasmine/Countess Madeline who is now wearing the face of Dara may finally have her revenge. After all, revenge is always best served cold and her heart is absolutely frigid! She is determined to make the Drake twins suffer for the pain they inflicted upon her and her....??? But having the twins murder their sweet Dara is a great start! Oh my lordy! But is she dead or does Dara miraculously manage to escape death once again and then again??? Or this there a darker fate worse waiting to infect her very soul??? And...has Jasmine finally been exposed and her schemes finally been discovered??? I'll never tell but I will say, the cat is finally out of the bag or should I say the dark dragon!?! Oh my goodness! Buckle up my lovelies! This is one heck of a ride! The story is exciting, intriguing, complex, suspenseful, original and imaginative. The characters are fascinating and captivating. I was hooked from page one and I'm still hooked! No spoilers from me but I will say this.... Handsome, sexy twin vampires-check! Beautiful human heroine-check! Danger, spellbinding drama, edge of your seat suspense, heinous enemies with unknown agendas, time travel and plot twists galore-you bet! There are so many mind-blowing, head-spinning plot twists that I'm suffering from whiplash! Great balls of fire! There are a few problems but overall, good job! If you want a complex plot driven story with unexpected twists at every turn, then this is the series for you! One thing is certain - Rosette Bolter does have one heck of an imagination! Don't blink and don't doze! You don't want to miss anything! This book will definitely keep you on your toes! My only criticism is it's becoming somewhat repetitive so hopefully the end will come soon.

Walsh This is an excellent resource for someone who wants to learn how to build and distribute computer games. It walks through the entire process, end-to-end, using real-world examples. While it will not turn a programmer into an artist, level designer, or animator, it will show the programmer how to interact with those people, to consume the assets they produce, and to incorporate those assets into the game.When I first began using computers in the 1980s, I was fascinated with computer graphics. Not being very artistic, though, I was never able to do much more than simple images and line drawings. Additionally, despite the fact that I have been programming computers for over 20 years, the process of creating computer games seemed extremely complicated because of the need to handle partical physics, collision detection, lighting and shadows, and a whole host of other concerns that do not involve code. I recently became aware of Unity, an environment for creating both 2D and 3D computer games, and I was anxious to learn more about how to use it.This book assumes the reader knows almost nothing about how to build computer games and only slightly more about programming. The author provides excellent examples, starting in the very first chapter, for how to use the Unity editor (including the use of MonoDevelop for developing scripts to control various game objects). While the example in Chapter 1 is a traditional "Hello, World" application, Chapter 2 walks the reader through the process of building a complete 3D world akin to first-person shooter games like Doom and including collision detection to prevent the player from walking through walls. Later chapters introduce 2D graphics, heads-up displays, sound effects and music, and the use of Internet-based resources and web-service APIs. These are not trivial examples; they are complete tutorials that show step-by-step how to use the Unity editor and write the code to do something interesting and realistic. While necessarily simplistic, they cover nearly the full range of processes (including the step to build the game to deploy to a variety of platforms) a game developer would go through to build a computer game.The code in the examples is well-structured, and the author emphasizes the need to keep things modular in order for the project to be maintainable as it grows in size and complexity. The author also acknowledges the areas where he is simply touching on a subject, and he provides a number of external resources where the reader can go for more information. The book is very well written and the examples are complete while also being digestible. The author is not only knowledgeable about this topic but also able to communicate his knowledge clearly to his readers.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. Great introduction with a perfect learning curve By Matthew Senne This is a well thought out guide to acquiring experience and comfort in creating games with Unity 5. The author isn't just another guy with expertise, he is an excellent teacher who knows what to share to help you gain skills (and remember them!) at the right times and in the right order. I was spurred into writing this review when, for the 4th time in as many chapters, he wrote what I was thinking and was spot on. When a tech book seems like it's reading your mind it is a very good experience. So far I've been extremely happy with the results.There's nothing here that isn't also in tutorials online, but I've read (and watched videos of) a bunch of those and found them wanting. None of those resources have been as grounded in the basics nor have they offered a smoother learning curve than this book. It's a great intro and I feel better equipped to learn more on my own.

Best book I've read involving game programming By NopeSea I've never read a book involving programming that was so easy to follow, so this was a great change of pace. The book goes through many of the basics of game programming in unity, and eventually delves into more complex topics like netcoding and using event listeners to communicate occurrences in the game itself. I got it originally in pdf format, and acquired the book after. Having both was quite useful to be able to quickly search things and reference the book without opening more windows. Overall, a quality book that really explains everything in detail for a beginner to follow.

I bouth this book to get a book with more updated content. I like this book better because of the layout of the questions organized into chapters for each topic, the answer choices being challenging but clear to understand and solutions and explanations. My teacher also thought it was good book after looking at it.

The large number of questions allowed me to focus my studying. I did great on the test and was much better prepared by using this book for the SAT chemistry test. I am glad I used this book to do well on the test. I liked that the questions are grouped by topics and I was able to really practice with multiple choice chemistry questions before the test. Great results!

Sometimes I think I understand a concept from class and then practice questions to know if I get it. The more practice I do the better I get with the material. The explanations really helped me review my work.I compared this book to some that my friends use and I am glad I have this book. More questions and better explanations.

About the Author

Jeanne H. Ballantine (far right) is University Professor of Sociology (emeriti) at Wright State University, a state university of about 17,000 students in Ohio. She has also taught at several 4-year colleges, including an “alternative” college and a traditionally Black college, and at international programs in universities abroad. She has been teaching introductory sociology for more than 30 years with a mission to introduce the uninitiated to the field and to help students see the usefulness and value in sociology. She has been active in the teaching movement, shaping curriculum, writing and presenting research on teaching, and offering workshops and consulting in regional, national, and international forums. She is a Fulbright Specialist Scholar and serves as a Departmental Resources Group consultant and evaluator. Jeanne has written several textbooks, all with the goal of reaching the student audience. As the original director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Wright State University, she scoured the literature on student learning and served as a mentor to teachers in a wide variety of disciplines. Local, regional, and national organizations have honored her for her teaching and for her contributions to helping others become effective teachers. In 1986, the American Sociological Association’s Section on Undergraduate Education (now called the Section on Teaching and Learning in Sociology) recognized her with the Hans O. Mauksch Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching of Sociology. In 2004, she was honored by the American Sociological Association with its Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award. In 2010, the North Central Sociological Association awarded her the J. Milton Yinger Award for Distinguished Career in Sociology.

Keith A. Roberts is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Hanover College, a private liberal arts college of about 1,100 students in Indiana. He has been teaching introductory sociology for more than 30 years with a passion for active learning strategies and a focus on “deep learning” by students that transforms the way they see the world. Prior to teaching at Hanover, he taught at a 2-year regional campus of a large university. He has been active in the teaching movement, writing on teaching and serving as a consultant to sociology departments across the country in his capacity as a member of the American Sociological Association Departmental Resources Group. He has written a very popular textbook in the sociology of religion, has coauthored a book on writing in the undergraduate curriculum, and for 22 years ran an annual workshop for high school sociology teachers. He has chaired the Selection Committee for the SAGE Innovations and Professional Development Awards since the program’s inception. He has been honored for his teaching and teaching-related work at local, state, regional, and national levels. The American Sociological Association’s Section on Teaching and Learning awarded him the Hans O. Mauksch Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching of Sociology in 2000. He was honored with the American Sociological Association’s Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award in 2010. In 2012, the North Central Sociological Association awarded Keith the J. Milton Yinger Award for Distinguished Career in Sociology.

Kathleen Odell Korgen is a professor of sociology at William Paterson University, a comprehensive university in Wayne, New Jersey. Kathleen has co-authored or co-edited numerous books that teach students to use the sociological tools they gain in their classes and to find inspiration from public sociologists and fellow sociology students. These books include The Engaged Sociologist: Connecting the Classroom to the Community, Sociologists in Action: Sociology, Social Change, and Social Justice and Sociologists in Action on Inequalities: Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality. She has also written or edited the following books on race relations and racial identity: Race Policy and Multiracial Americans (forthcoming), Multiracial Americans and Social Class, Crossing the Racial Divide: Close Friendships Between Black and White Americans, and From Black to Biracial: Transforming Racial Identity Among Americans. Kathleen works as a consultant for other sociology departments as a member of the Departmental Resources Group of the American Sociological Association. She has received William Paterson University’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship/Creative Expression and the university’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Interesting read that is broken down easily to absorb By Jenny It's a really easy read; the authors considered their audiences and translated text language into relatable language. It is definitely not as dry as other texts and the little examples help a lot regarding understanding concepts and making sense of our lives. It's basically terminology for our everyday lives put into a textbook. Definitely an informative read. I had to read this for my sociology class and enjoyed it very much.Reason for one star: I ordered a new book. When I received the book there was some residue on the cover that I cannot get off and some of the pages were stuck together. I don't care if the book has never been read, if I ordered a new book I am expecting pristine condition. This book was a rather pricey buy so I'm expecting no flaws. Amazon took care of my concerns and did phenomenally in resolving the issue. But this has been an issue I've been experiencing lately with Amazon's books. Stains on covers really irk me when I know I chose to pay more for "new" instead of "very good" condition.

Steele You will have to have some knowledge about the Arabic language to say the words right, and the Arabic writing is in very small print. But it's a fun way to learn words. Everything is categorized nicely, to make it easier to look up a word. And there's an index in English and an index in Arabic in the back.

Very well done, I am sure the Indian lore buffs as well as those interested in the culture and history of Native Americans will be drawn to it. I am always amazed at how Minkman can time after time write a story that captures the beauty of the Southwest and the lore and tradition of the Navajos.I love this part the most, it is a quote from the book:“In the end, it is all dependent on your courage.” The bear cocks his head slightly to the side. “I am not talking about the courage of a warrior. It is a different kind of valor. You need to be strong and brave to be truly human. And love... love is the greatest adventure of all.”"I want to ask him so many more things, but my spirit guide is moving on, to wide plains and cloudless skies that are yet out of my reach. And I await my fate here alone, cherishing the knowledge that was given to me, if only for a short while... My heart will know true love."

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A great companion novella By Shona Booky Ramblings Lawrence I loved Shadow of Time with its mix of romance, paranormal and Navajo history. It just all came together to bring us a wonderful reading experience. One of the things that I loved about it was the dream sequence that allowed us to see Josh's past lives. However, it turns out that the lives that appeared in Shadow of Time where not all of Josh's past lives and this is where this book comes in.I can understand why Minkam would be devastated to leave these out, after she had spent so much time not just 'making it all up' but actually researching it and providing so much detail, to then have it cut from the final edit. I am grateful that she has since put these past lives together and given us the chance to discover more of Josh and his past.It has been almost 2 years since I read Shadow Of Time, so perhaps I haven't had the full reading pleasure that would come from reading this book alongside Shadow of Time, or shortly after.

Reading about these previous lives gives the reader the advantage of realizing exactly what makes our protagonist , Josh, tick. What has he seen? What has he endured? How many friends and loved ones have gone before him? Has he learned what he needs to carry on through the ages?? This is an intriguing tale of differing viewpoints and a clash of cultures throughout history. It is the very definition of fear as the native Navajo tribes and the Spanish whites face off to live in the west. The challenge is to live and share in peace, but the reality of this rough and changing life is ultimately determined by greed. Truly a fascinating paranormal read that I enjoyed tremendously.
