Well, three, actually: Those who don't study for the GRE, those who take a course costing several hundred dollars, and those of us buying a book or two. Buy "Cracking the GRE." It is what you need.I suspect those who take the courses get their money's worth.However, "Cracking the GRE" is a much cheaper, quicker solution. It cuts to the chase, tells you what you need to know, and shows you how to figure out those algebra problems better than your high school freshman year teacher.They teach you how to be organized during the test. And you'll learn how to draw sensible charts for the logic portion. This will save you precious time as you realize you have no clue how to answer number 27. It teach you how to effectively guess.I took the GRE. I used the Princeton Review. I crammed. Sure, sure--not the best approach for an important exam, but the fact remains, I'm not alone. Effective cramming involves knowing what to jettison, and what to keep on board. That is, knowing what is important to focus on. The Princeton Review folks know this.I dreaded the math portion. (And I've been an editor for 15 years -- so I know a mess when I see it!) The author would spend ridiculous amounts of space explaining a concept as simple as a "digit," yet skip over the reason for using a certain formula to solve a more complex problem. Moreover, the author recommends "plugging in" answers for many problems that are actually easier to DO.Very disappointed. After reading book, I took their first online practice test, and got 770 verbal, 490 quantitative. Granted, I already knew that I need to go back and memorize geometry formulas, which I haven't done yet. But then I'll need to practice using them--and this book doesn't provide for that practice. I'll be buying another book for that--from a different publisher.

Memorized all of the vocab words. Did all 4 practice tests. Studied for several weeks. I was an A student in college. I began the GRE feeling prepared, after all I did know everything in this Princeton Review GRE guide. I was shocked to discover that the quantitative portion of the actual GRE is much, much more challenging than any of the Princeton Review sample problems or practice tests. This review guide did not adequately prepare me for the test. As a result, I did not finish the math section and got a lousy score. I FEEL MISLED! I must say, however, that the book was entertaining and easy to read.I have decided to take the exam again and, in preparation, I purchased Barron's "How to Prepare for the GRE Test" and Kaplan's "GRE and GMAT Exams Math Workbook". I have begun reading the former and already I have learned several techniques that the Princeton Review guide never mentioned. In addition, the practice problems in Barron's are much more realistic. They certainly resemble those found on the actual GRE. Barron's examples are challenging so that you aren't surprised when you enter the exam. Overall, Barron's provides much, much more information, review, and strategic advice then Princeton Review did.In a nutshell: Look elsewhere. Unless you are an absolute math and verbal genius, this book will not adequately prepare you for the GRE.

Lousy Scans, Illegible Text By Phare-Camp Yes it does have lots of tangle patterns, many of which can be starting points for your own tangles...But...every page in this book is scanned and unfortunately the scans are of extremely poor quality. The text and fine details in the tangle patterns are illegible. Tapping and zooming is no help. At a price of nearly five dollars this ebook is a ripoff. I wouldn't have been annoyed with the crappy quality if it had been 99¢ but $4.95 is $4 too much. I gave it two stars because as an artist I can professionally guess how most of the patterns were executed but I in no way recommend this ebook to the intermediate or beginning tangler...

It involves using the hand muscles in a different way. Additionally, it activates a different part of the brain than regular writing does. At the age cursive is taught, around 7 or 8 years old, these skills can be very beneficial in furthering motor skill development.In turn, many other skills will benefit. Some administrators argue that the time teaching cursive writing would be better spent teaching keyboard skills. By having to learn cursive as well, students get another opportunity to fully comprehend the alphabet. Gritty, hard hitting By Angie This book was a little out of my usual genre choice and the content of the first story in particular is not for the faint hearted. It is graphic and the subject of peadophile will not be for everyone. That said, it is a meaty read that you need to concentrate on. There is a lot of detail and exposition that for me was a little heavy to get through. However, the story will appeal to lovers of this genre and is well executed.

It would have been more logical if told chronologically.Again, there's lots of extraneous detail to wade through.BUT - again .... basically a good story.Perhaps consider an independent editor to tighten up the plots, correct questionable logistical glitches and cater to the reader better?

About the Author

Christopher A. Beetham (PhD, Wheaton College) is assistant professor of biblical studies at the Evangelical Theological College and assistant professor of New Testament at the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology, both in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is the author of Echoes of Scripture in the Letter of Paul to the Colossians.

J. I. Packer (DPhil, Oxford University) serves as the Board of Governors’ Professor of Theology at Regent College. He is the author of numerous books, including the classic best-seller Knowing God. Packer served as general editor for the English Standard Version Bible and as theological editor for the ESV Study Bible.

Dane C. Ortlund (PhD, Wheaton College) is executive vice president of Bible publishing and Bible publisher at Crossway. He serves as an editor for the Knowing the Bible series and the Short Studies in Biblical Theology series, and is the author of several books, including Edwards on the Christian Life. He lives with his wife, Stacey, and their four kids in Wheaton, Illinois.

Lane T. Dennis is president and publisher of Crossway Books and Good News Tracts. Dr. Dennis earned his BS in business from Northern Illinois University, an MDiv from McCormick Theological Seminary, and a PhD in religion from Northwestern University. Before joining Good News Publishers in 1974, he served as a pastor in campus ministry at the University of Michigan (Sault Ste. Marie) and as the Managing Director of Verlag Grosse Freude in Switzerland. He is the author and/or editor of three books, including the Gold Medallion-award-winning book Letters of Francis A. Provides Good Insights on What it Means to be a Christian By Amazon Customer This is the third of this series that we have used in our Sunday School class. Because Colossians is so short, some of the sessions are too short to take up an entire class period so at times we have covered two sessions at a time. Some of the questions for personal reflection are a bit obtuse and hard to answer but the commentary and scripture connection portions are excellent. We use the books in a reformed theology setting and they fit well. Overall, the book provides a good insight into the key messages Paul wants the Colossians (and us) to understand about what it means to be a Christian. It also covers the application of Christian principles to the situation covered in Philemon.

The book gives really good insight into the passages and the questions are written in a way that they almost answer themselves so its not hard to get off course with what the verse is actually about.

By BCB & More I have been reading Sheila O'Flanagan since she published her first book and am rarely disappointed with the books she writes. Her last book though wasn't her usual type of story and although I enjoyed it I could see why not everybody would. Her last book seemed to have a more serious theme running through it than maybe her previous books have. I was still looking forward to reading her new book, especially as I had an early proof copy.This latest books synopsis sounded very interesting and is based around two women. Sheridan Gray is a journalist who manages to lose her job, her home and her boyfriend in a matter of days. The other main character is Nina, who is dealing with the fallout from her separation from her actor husband Sean; following the national press revealing he was having an affair with a co-star. Nina runs a Guesthouse in Ardbawn and this is co-incidentally where Sheridan ends up.Sheridan was an easy woman to like and to read about. Nina was a little harder going as we see her struggle to keep things going. When the two women meet things get a little more interesting. The thing I noticed about this latest book is that straight away I was drawn into Ardbawn, and I really liked the characters that make up his pretty village. When Nina stays at the Guesthouse, she uncovers what she thinks could be an explosive story guaranteed to get her back at one of the national papers. Unfortunately it surrounds Nina and Sheridan has to make some tough decisions.The story was certainly interesting and had a mystery element to it which I enjoyed. I warmed to Nina a lot more as the story went on, almost as much as I gained loathing for the husband Sean. As I was nearing the end of the book I realised that we still weren't at the conclusion. To my surprise the last 3 or so chapters managed to wrap up everything and left me feeling a little disappointed. I really enjoyed the story but thought that the ending seemed so quick and almost rushed. It certainly didn't ruin the book for me but made me knock off a star. Overall another great summer read from Sheila O'Flanagan, it seems she never fails to disappoint!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Another good read by Sheila O'Flanagan By Kiwi reader I have read just about all Sheila O'Flanagan's books and have enjoyed most of them. So I eagerly awaited the delivery of this book and settled down for a good read last weekend.This book was about a girl called Sheridan who is a journalist. In keeping with the current times, the story will probably resonate to some extent with readers. In the story, the economy is shaky and companies are being restructured and letting staff go. The newspaper where Sheridan works as a sports journalist has to reduce their staffing and, as luck would have it, Sheridan is one of the ones who has to leave. She has further bad luck when her flat-mate moves to another city for another job (meaning she can't afford the rent on her own and has to move) and to cap it off, her boyfriend tells her he likes going out with her, but doesn't like it enough to want to move in with her! And her parents, while being understanding to a point, are very sporty minded and just think she should pick herself up and move on to the next challenge.So, down on her luck and somewhat bitter about the redundancy, Sheridan takes a temporary job in a small town called Ardbawn, filling in for someone on maternity leave, working in the small town's newspaper and moves into a studio apartment at the local guesthouse. Along with the challenges of her new role and the adjustments of moving from the city to a small town, she decides to investigate the man who she holds responsible for making her redundant and who, coincedentally lives in the small town where she now works...The book had an entertaining main storyline about Sheridan and a secondary storyline about Nina the guesthouse owner and her husband. Sheridan was a fairly believable character, although I'd be tempted to give her a good shake at times! It would also have been good if the book could have explored Nina's story a bit more fully. But overall, an easy, entertaining and satisfying read.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. MY OPINION ONLY By CindyR I enjoy Sheila O'Flanagan's books very much. However, I find her frequent use of brackets extremely offputting. In several different places sometimes on the same page. It would make no difference to the meaning of the text if she simply left them out and used punctuation marks instead. It isn't reader-friendly to have to navigate around brackets. Just my opinion though. Each author tends to have her own way of communicating - Cathy Kelly for instances, uses 'really' too often.

Decent for campaign strategy, not so much for collectibles By Braden Pickering While I have not completed Arkham Knight in full just yet, I feel I am far enough in to confidently form a definitive opinion of this guide. Bottom line? It’s “just okay.”As far as getting you through the main story campaign it’s fairly decent. It will give you fair warning about what kinds of enemies to expect around every corner, and the best takedown strategies for both stealth and combat scenarios. The in-game objectives aren’t always entirely clear so I really appreciated the tips to “eject from the Batmobile and crash through the third floor office window,” for example, when I otherwise would have had no clue how to progress. There are separate sections at the end for AR Challenges and the Most Wanted Side Missions that are easy enough to follow, and the campaign walk-thru will notify you when these missions first became available if you want to take a break from the story for a bit to go check them out.Where this guide falls a bit short, in my opinion, is in its usefulness in relation to the Riddler Trophies. Collecting is a big part of this game, and while there are nice maps marked with the locations of all the Trophies, it still won’t necessarily tell you HOW to access them. For instance, the description for one in particular says, “This one involves moving the train car,” and that’s it. Okay…? And…? (As it turns out there’s a grate in the ground under the car you need to climb into.) Others may tell you to "do the puzzle" as if the solution were completely self-explanatory, while many will simply show a picture of the Trophy sitting behind whatever obstacle you need to get past with no caption or explanation at all. For Riddles that involve scanning objects, it offers a screenshot but doesn’t tell you what you’re supposed to be focusing on. Is it the computer? The coffee cup on the desk next to it? The police officer standing in the background? Who knows. Not that I mind a little trial and error, but it really is like someone made a point to be as vague as possible with some of these items which, honestly, defeats the purpose of using a guide at all.Not to sound TOO nitpicky here, but the book in general isn’t as sharp looking as I expected, either. It’s evidently printed on recycled paper, which is fine of course, but the glossy sheen of the pages is gone and it feels a little less sturdy than the guides of Arkham games past. There’s also very, very little artwork or character concept designs sprinkled throughout the pages which makes for kind of a bland presentation. (Not that I expected it would be, but none of the DLC such as the Harley Quinn expansion is covered, just FYI.)I know it sounds like I just did an awful lot of complaining there, but in spite of all that the guide is basically useful. You may still have to consult another source to find everything you need, but it’s a good enough starting point, and like I said before, it will at the very least make the most of your main story campaign experience. Recommended if you can find used or on sale.

No strategy whatsoever. Save your money. You can find a multitude of better information and walkthroughs on the net.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. probably one of the worst guides I have ever used By Jet Edge Despite paying money for this guide, I barely used it. The only use it saw was me opening it up to look at a map of where to find a couple locations for side missions, but the guide is SO vague with what I actually needed it for. Best tips on how to 3 star X ar challenge? "In this challenge you must get X hits without being hit to 3 star it." Anything else? That's it? Any tips like what the best fight strategy is (By this point ive pretty much mastered the combat, this was just a random challenge I knew was there) Okay I can figure that out then, let's look at the Riddler trophies. I can't get this one so.... "Steam vent puzzle" ... well yeah obviously that's what it is, I see the steam vents and I know I have to destroy them but how? Can I have even just a HINT? That specific puzzle took me maybe 30 minutes before I gave up and found a FREE guide online which was much more useful than this one I PAID MONEY FOR.I can't really think of anything useful that came out of this other than the 2 maps I looked at, which even then werent too well made. The funniest part is that IGN did a better job than the official guide makers... that's embarrassing in my opinion...

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Pretty good program. By Darin E. Lewis I speak German pretty well. I never had classes, so my spelling isn't always the best. The program is good for learning, but the evaluation part (where it tells you how good you are) isn't all that accurate. It would count my answers as wrong because I didn't use an umlaut, etc.. Otherwise, if you want to learn the language...it's pretty good.
