Look at Greece, riots and it survives like Oakland.Buy gold... Um, if you have extra money, buy at low spots it's currently 1090 per oz down from a high a few years ago of 1800. Remember the depression, early 1900's gold was near worthless, can't eat it, can't milk it, and it's not a tool like a hammer or crossbow. It's not going to save your butt in this country. Invest in a weapon, a good one you can take a class with, clean it and carry on long walks type. Besides the way anti gun rhetoric is going it'll be worth more as an investment anyway.I disagree with food storage not being important to start right away. It's a place most people can start on a shoestring budget. Water is important, so much so, would have worth discussing more in depth. Purifiers can be bought under 30$ and a still can be made from items at home.Otherwise a quick, down and dirty, rough start, general suggestion list.

An index or appendix of recommended web sites and reading material would do a lot to get more info into the hands of a novice reading this. But if the novice READS this and cogitates, Google will ne their next stop. Well done.

The fact that the majority of the story deals with all new characters gives you a glimpse of how complex this world is, inside the author's head. I'm excited to read more from this author.If you are looking for non stop physical action, you may be disappointed, until you find yourself glued to the pages, fascinated by the political intrigue aspect of the story.I just got done reading it last night, and will go back to read book 1: The Depths.

It is slow to start as it introduces the characters and its setting to the reader. It definitely picked up the pace as it reached the middle. It is easy to understand the setting as it explained in great detail. Definitely worth taking the time to read.

Logan found that despite the grandeur of the big city, it comes with the ugly side of city folks being less friendly and judging, and less helpful even during times when he was lost. In addition, even small child has to work to provide for the high living expense in the city. A lot of us look towards the big city and big companies but it comes at a high price which you might not even have considered. I was surprised with Logan's final profound conclusion where he would be better prepared to enjoy the ups of city and to accommodate the downs in his next visit to the city.

I found the first 20 or so to be entertaining, but not particularly well written or interesting. Indeed the numerous typos and early 21st century pop-culture references were quite distracting. However, since then the series' universe has been fleshed out and expanded. I will keep reading as every entry seems to be an improvement on the last.

Can't wait for the next one though since we're really starting to near the end and hopefully things wont feel rushed or anything. Aer-ki Jyr has a very good track record thus far though so I am confident in his ability to continue writing high quality content like this.

Action packed and exciting By Jaslyn Hughes Maya has been outside for a few months now, she has been training with Hunter each day, learning how to fight and survive in the world outside. She also now knows that her parents are being held captive in Harbour City and is determined to infiltrate the city and free them. But at what cost?Need I say anymore. At what cost should practically give it away. Holy s*** man, this was another action packed, edge of my seat read, and I really enjoyed it but far out the ending had me nearly in tears. Why would you do that to me?!! I'm also really liking that the main character group has expanded so we have a few more people who add an extra dynamic. I'm still trying to work out Luca's deal and why he's so cranky pants, not to mention Crystal and the way she is, though I gotta say I was a bit surprised she didn't put up more of a fight for Coal, that would have been interesting! Mind you there was enough happening with some love triangle, but not love triangle between Coal, Maya and Taylor. I say not love triangle because Maya knows who she wants (Coal, duh) and while Taylor says he's ok with that his actions speak far louder, and oh my gosh I want to punch him in the face.I can't really find much that I didn't like in this book. There were a couple of parts where the characters reactions maybe weren't too realistic, for instance, Maya walks in on Hunter and Laurie having sex, is totally embarrassed (as you would be) but then goes back and looks at Coal like she'd never considered that might be something he was interested in and that they might end up doing. I find this surprising given they're right at that age where they should be thinking about sex all the time and humping like bunnies. Maya also doesn't spend much time fretting over it, which is good, I don't mind less drama in books I read but I remember being a 17/18 year old girl and there is a bit of angst around sex no matter how much you love the guy, so maybe a few more words around those kinds of feelings would have made it a bit more believable for me. Anyway, that seemed to be a turning point for her and things got a bit hot and heavy and of course just when you thought they'd get down to it, of course Taylor interrupts, damn you!I really enjoyed this book and devoured it within a matter of days, I just couldn't put it down. If you're interested in the series, I'd definitely start with the first book in the series, Chained, as the story does continue through them and you'll have a better understanding of it by starting from the beginning.*A copy of this book was provided for an honest review*

By Poulami Ghosh *I received an eARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*I’m a mushy mess right now after finishing this book. THAT ENDING!! Somebody kill me now! My eyes are strained as I couldn’t put down this book and I read straight 3 hours. It’s already after 2 am. I’m having a hard time forming a coherent sentence, I blame the book. But I couldn’t go off to sleep without writing down my feelings otherwise I think I would drown.Okay, first of all let me start by giving a short synopsis as I usually do. The story starts off from where it was left off. Well, actually a little after 2 months. Maya and Taylor had been training hard. She finally hears about the rescue mission about her parents which are about to start. They all set out on the mission but it’s not easy as hell. With every step they face new difficulties but together all of them strive forward. Finally when they think they’re going to taste success they are betrayed and something far more worse happens that they didn’t even think off.This book was BAM ON! Right from the start. Usually when it’s the second book, something always manages to go wrong and I don’t love it as much as the first book. But this was totally different in this case. I absolutely fell in love with this book. So much action, adventure and romance, I was filled with excitement throughout the book, it was a hell of an awsome experience. Also, the surprise element was on a roll, I couldn’t guess what was going to happen the next moment and I was kept guessing. Oh and new monsters aside from the Creepers! There was this giant alligator thing that was sucking down the people in the sand and it was terrifying which led to an utter chaos. There was not a single dull moment. There was so much action, I loved the fighting sequences and wanted more. The plot twist was sneakily great, I definitely didn’t expect it, I was left with my hand clasping tightly over my wide open mouth. The romance was more intense in this book, I absolutely loved Coal and Maya together and I SHIP THEM HARD! But I’m pretty much devastated after the ending.There were so many new characters introduced in this book. We have Gregor who is a bit clingy, Luka who is irritating, Blane who is actually the lost brother of Coal and Alicia. I loved how this turned out, it was such a great moment when they all realised Blane was alive. Though it was weird reunion after fighting with the Creepers. And also Crystal who had a past with Coal and she definitely didn’t want anyone to forget that. All these character made a contribution to the plot and made it more thick and strong.I loved Maya. She came out as a kickass and a strong protagonist. She was simply outstanding to me. She handled everything really well and with her sharp mind it was pretty much hard to catch her. I fell in love with Coal, he was pretty awsome and I loved how he was always ready to do anything for his loved ones. The chemistry between them was intense in this book which I definitely loved. Though Taylor was getting on my nerves. He finally regained his senses and couldn’t stand Coal and Maya together, the reason is obvious. But I’m soooo glad there was no love triangle. Maya was absolutely sure about what she wanted which made me love her even more. And I can’t tell how much I adore and love Alicia, she’s a pretty awsome and a kickass character. Laurie and Hunter were great as well. All of them made a hell of an awsome team!The writing was so, so awsome. It was gripping and descriptive and I could picture everything so clearly it felt I was watching a movie. I pretty much raced throughout the book as something or the other kept happening and it was so hard to stop reading. I had a hard time putting this book down. Honestly, I think this should already be made into a movie which would be pretty awsome! The pace was fast throughout the book, just the way I enjoy it. I absolutely loved how everything was perfectly executed.Overall, Linked is an awsome book with a great plot and lots of kickass and strong characters. I was kept on an edge throughout the book and I kept guessing as the surprises sprang one by one. It was hard to guess the plot twist, it didn’t even occur to me that something like that could even happen. The writing was descriptive and it was pretty fast paced. There were lots of action and romance that I enjoyed every much. I can’t wait to get on with the next adventure, specially after how it ended. Oh, and I think I will die if I don’t get the third book anytime soon!Recommend it?ABSOLUTELY YES!

I have fallen in love with all of the characters. Coal, Maya, Taylor, Laurie, Alicia, Hunter, etc. All of them. Even Crystal! Even though she’s hard to love.This installment of the Cage of Lies series was even more action packed than the first book. Coal and Maya and the gang meet all kinds of people on the way to the city to save her parents. They run into the Creeper King again, Barlow and his crew of bandits, and the horsemen. The have a few new group members helping them get to the city as well. Crystal, Gregor, Luca, and Adam all have their own dark pasts and quirks.They face new struggles and dangers that lurk in the wilderness. Some of the dangers, those outside The Wall like Coal’s group have never even com across before.There were so many adventures in this one book! The setting changed a lot and the group expanded, new bonds were formed. It was great. If the next book doesn’t come out soon I’ll have to reread these to get my fix.I am so impressed with Valenti’s skill. She has truly woven an enchanting, whirlwind adventure. Reading these books make me want to go out and learn survival skills and how to be tough like Maya.I like how gritty this series is. There’s nothing pretty in it. *Except Coal’s muscles. Those sound pretty hot.* Everything is survival of the toughest, and most determined. Which surprisingly turns out to be tiny Maya half the time. The tiniest are always the toughest though! They have more to prove.I love how I thought the book was going to end one way and Valenti threw a curve ball and sent it a completely unexpected direction. I MUST READ THE NEXT BOOK. They suspense is driving me mad. I enjoy when writer’s do that, throw you off the trail and what not. I don’t think I could do it. I would get so invested in my characters that I would get too attached to them that I would be afraid to take chances. Knowing that I think that way makes me really appreciate brave writers.I think readers of any dystopian stories would enjoy Valenti’s books. She takes the whole survival aspect of a dystopian world and takes it to a new level. The plot to this series is so amazing due to all of the rising actions building up to the climax. In a way, it’s like the reader hasn’t even gotten to the main climax yet. Hence why I’m sitting on my seat and getting ready to run straight to the next book as fast as I can. It can’t get here fast enough.

Ficklin's novel, Playing with Fire, Book One in her new Hackers series, and I must say that I am simply blown away! Follow the story of Farris, an unusually talented young hacker, as she tries to use her skills to protect her father from taking the blame on a government project gone wrong. The further she falls into this sticky web of intrigue and sinister plots, the more she realizes that if she doesn't act, the lives of many are at risk. But with action, she's putting her own life and the lives of those she loves in danger. What will Farris decide? You'll need to read the book to find out!I loved this book. Loved. It. Author Sherry D. Ficklin has done it again, writing a book that is simply un-put-downable. She has done a fabulous job in developing characters that the reader will relate to, root for, and continue to think about long after the book is done. If that's not a hallmark of a great writer, I don't know what is. The scenes she's written are so realistic that the reader will feel completely sucked into them, heart pounding. Any reader, whether young adult or not, who enjoys action, suspense, thrillers or a great mystery will love Playing with Fire. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to jump into my next read by a new favorite author, Sherry D. Ficklin!

Sherry is a full time writer from Colorado where she lives with her husband, four kids, two dogs, and a fluctuating number of chickens and house guests. A former military brat, she loves to travel, eat exotic food, and meet new people. By Sara I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.*Playing with Fire is the first book in The #Hackers series, and as of the time I'm writing this, the sequel, entitled In Too Deep, is already out, and I know I want to read it. I enjoyed this book, and part of the reason is the main character, Farris. She's a teenager in her junior year of high school, and the daughter of a Marine officer who was recently transferred to a base in North Carolina. She makes an impression her very first day at the high school when she steps in to an altercation between Oliver and Reid. and finds herself involved in a relationship triangle of sorts between the two boys. While that is part of the story, the main focus is actually on solving a mystery of events that happen on the base.This book is a relatively fast read, and I think part of that is the fact that Farris is a very likable character, and I thought she was developed well. I've read some of Sherry's other books, most notably the Stolen Empire series, and that's a trait that Catherine from that series had. I also liked Farris' father as well. He wants to protect her of course, but he knows that she won't be able to try to help out by unraveling the mystery. I think the most interesting secondary characters were Kayla, one of her new friends and Georgia, Oliver's sister.This is a good read for those who like books set in the present day, with well-developed female main characters. My rating is 4/5 platypires.

GREAT STORY By Jenny Bynum Anyone who knows me knows that I a reader of YA Paranormal, but sometimes I have a tendency to step out of my comfort zone and read other genres and especially if the synopsis catches my attention and this one really caught my attention. I am a huge fan of Clean Teen Publishing and I love reading anything their authors put out there for our enjoyment in the art of reading.This is the first time that I have actually read a novel by this author and I am pleasantly surprised by her writing style. I absolutely love Farris and her wittines and spun throughout the book. She is a strong character and one that I fell in love with quickly. I all the twists and turns that the author put into the story to capture my attention and keep me entertained for a few hours of reading. I love the suspense and humor in the book too. I did kind of have the traitor figured out within about the middle of the book but it didn't deture me from reading it. It's a great Teen/YA story that I highly recommend any age to read.Teenage drama on an military base with an awesome twist and some crime scene investigating and detective work. I loved it and I give it a five book review.The author provided me with a digital ARC copy of the book for review purposes only as part of a blog tour. No remuneration was exchanged.

So, of course, given the opportunity to read more of her work, I jumped on board.I haven't ever read a hacker type novel before. So I was interested to see where this one went. I thought there would be more computer stuff in it, but it wasn't as much as I thought and I was happy about that. I'm not completely technical and didn't want to be lost.I like how Ficklin did the world building in this one. I'm not very familiar with the military and how they live. I've heard bout families moving around a lot, so it was interested to see it from the perspective of a teen. I guess you would call Farris a military brat, from what I understand. She's moved around a bit during her life, with her father being a high ranking officer and all. And Farris has known tragedy in her life: losing her mother at a young age and also being a victim of some bullying. So she has some baggage that she carries with her.I love the friends she makes at school. Such a large range from cheerleaders and football players, to goth dressers and geeks. She doesn't care who her friends are as long as they are her friends.I will say that I figured out early on who the person causing the glitches was. But it didn't stop me from wanting to see how things played out. And I liked the way Farris pieced the puzzle together.Of course this wouldn't be a teen book without some romance. I will say I felt like the romance jumped in a bit too fast. I would have liked a bit more of a slow burn. And there is the hint of a love triangle, which I'm not really a fan of. Overall, the romance was really more of a side bar for me. If it hadn't been present and the guys had just been her friends, I would have been ok with that.Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It's a short and quick read (I finished in less than 24 hours). Even those who don't understand the technologies of the computer world will appreciate Farris' abilities with the computer, and the friendships she forms during this book.

It's well written and easy to read and covers many of the current offerings of the 1911. I had two issues with the book: First, the photos do not match up with what is being discussed in the text. The photos and captions are excellent, but seem to be out of sequence with the content. Secondly, the author did a very good job of testing and assessing various models of the 1911, but didn't provide a table or some other compilation of the data to give the reader everything in one place.

Still learned a lot from it.

Omega is set in modern day times where Greek gods are the rules and humans are treated as the inferior people. Things are about to change now that a human girl has been born to be the last Oracle with the mark of the double omega. She’s spent her life living with the monks in the forest training, while the nymphs steal all her potential guys after all they haven’t been able to keep up with her. When her guardian leaves her alone for the weekend she decides to just step outside the barrier just for a few minutes to dip her toes in the water, and changes everything.Suddenly now her safety has been compromised people will be coming after her. To give her time to get away her guardian Herakles heads off to distract those who will be hunting her. In the hands of a mercenary Lyssa flee’s the only home into the human world that she was born into but hasn’t been a part of in twelve years. As Lyssa learns to deal with her new life she’s haunted by childhood memories come back as she starts to remember things. When she encounters her childhood friend things start to slide into place as her future starts to catch up with her. Will she be able to survive what her future holds? Has she met the one boy who is everything she’s been looking for but will it last?I like Lyssa right from the start she captured my heart, she’s not your typical weak heroine but trained for the last twelve years to protect herself. It’s refreshing to have a character who doesn’t rely on a guy to save her but does it herself, and I love characters who kick butt. I like Adonis as a potential love interest for Lyssa he’s her child friend and not just human but something else. I’m so torn on Niko I want to hate him after everything he’s done but I kind of like him, and I’m hoping he has some redeeming qualities for the future.I’ve had the paperback sitting on my bookshelf for months, and I decided to wait till it was closer to my tour spot so the review would be fresh. I wish I hadn’t waited because I really enjoyed being drawn into Lyssa’s world it’s a unique concept that captured my heart as well as my imagination. I love the idea of creating a unique story with the Greek Gods the author has done a beautiful job creating an exciting new world for Lyssa to figure out who she is as well as what her future holds. I think Lyssa is a great character I was able to connect with her right from the start as well as she progressed through the book. Omega is a fast paced action packed novel filled with enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat as well as an intriguing story. I had a hard time putting Omega down, it’s one that I finished in just a day because I had to know what would happen next to Lyssa. This isn’t my first book by the author I’ve read several of her novels over the years. I have to admit the Omega is my favorite because I love the characters and the story. The only sad part is that Omega just came out it’s going to be a long wait for the next one, since I loved the first so much.

It made me feel so many things.First I would recommend that you read the Omega miniseries before starting this book so you will have a better understanding of the characters. There are 6 novellas in the miniseries so far. (Alessandra, Mismatch, Phoibe, Lantos, Theodocia, and Niko) It gives you a better understanding of the characters past.Alessandra is the Oracle of Delphi. She is the person who is meant to be the go between the humans and the Gods. She is a very strong girl. Alessandra grew up not knowing anything of the world outside her school and the woods she grew up in. When that world comes crashing to the ground how will she react? Is there anyone she can trust?I do not like Niko. I am not sure about Lantos yet. Are Docy and The Silent Queen good or bad?There is one thing that I am absolutely sure about...I LOVE MISMATCH!!!Favorite quotes are the two listed below."Not used to men touching you." He was amused. "Stop it. Fly me home, you stupid oversized bat.""You are coming back aren't you?" I asked. "You are seared into my soul. I will always return to you."This book made me laugh out loud. Made me want to scream. A couple of times I put it down because I that is what I do when something is going to happen that I don't want to happen. At the end I wanted to cry because I love these characters. They feel real. This book ends with a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is such an interesting take on the magical world of the Greek gods in modern times. I started with the prequel novellas and I am utterly amazed at how cool this author build this world. And I loved the leading lady in Alessandra. I felt bad for her a lot too.So Alessandra is special... Stubborn, impulsive, brave, courageous, funny, and down right scary sometimes. She really doesn't know who or what she is, or the power she can control. And it's hard for me to explain her relationship with Adonis, aka mismatch. I absolutely LOVE LOVE him. Seriously. Let me say this.... GARGOYLE!!!!!!!!!! That's my only spoiler because I can't explain things without ruining stuff. I love how she met mismatch the first time, from the novella. I really loved how everything fell into place with everyone from those too. Yeah I'll need to write a review for those soon too.The writing is flawless and encompassing. It drew me right in from the start. And I'm so ready for more with book two! With some seriously cool heroine moments, some almost teenage turning adult finding yourself moments, and some very suspenseful mystery moments- there's not too many things missing here. And I can't talk about romance because no spoilers. There's something special about this new series and I can't wait for more!! Gimme- hurry!!! 5 PAWS!!!!

By Tangren "It may seem that we have gone to considerable length to derive a disappointing result, namely, a result that does not oer the seller any more sophisticated selling mechanisms than we are familiar with from elementary microeconomics. However, apart from introducing some technical tools that we use later in more complicated contexts, the reader should appreciate that we have uncovered a rather sophisticated rationale for a familiar everyday phenomenon. This is perhaps analogous to invoking Newton's law of gravity as an explanation of the fact that apples fall o apple trees. The fact is familiar, but the explanation is non-obvious. "

13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Good resource, but many typos, and no articles. By K. Zevallos I bought this book to begin studying medical vocabulary. It is useful in the sense that it has a lot of necessary vocabulary, and that the vocabulary is organized into categories (cardiology, neurology, etc). However, there are no articles provided with the Spanish words, which although sometimes are obvious, are not always obvious. So I used wordreference.com and linguee.com to look up the articles. As I did, I realized that there were many typos in the book. Examples include "conduto lacrimal" instead of "conducto lacrimal", "cutterage" instead of "curettage," etc. There are also several words repeated on the next line. Not just another translation, but exactly the same word and translation. It appears that the book was poorly edited.I am uploading a few photos of some typos, found all within just 2 pages.So, a good resource, but be prepared to do a good deal of the work yourself.
