You are soooo tired!Starting from the cover, the personality of these time tested characters starts the journey. A red eyed Gerald looks out sleepily, with a blankie and bunny, while Piggie pokes in setting the stage for the hilarity inside. After declaring his need for a nap, in comes Piggie disturbing it all, only to start getting cranky and tired himself. The book takes a really funny turn in the middle, which kids will absolutely love (and frankly I thought was a great, fun twist).In line with their many other works, kids will totally love this book, and I thought it was fantastic too. Let’s face it, everyone can relate to the need for a nap! You will love this book (but may not admit it to other adults). On par with his "Pigeon" books and other Gerald and Piggie works, this series is perfect in any household.A must buy for Willems fans.

Mo Willems has done it again. :) By Jacqueline My husband, my daughter (just turned two years old), and I absolutely LOVE the Elephant and Piggie books. They are our all time favorite set, and we read them every single night before bed time.If you are not familiar with the Elephant and Piggie books, here is what you need to know.1.) Gerald (the elephant) is a boy and Piggie is a girl. They are both hilarious, and you and your child will grow to love them.2.) The text is in speech bubbles throughout all the stories. These are easy reads, with few difficult vocabulary words for even the youngest readers. These are only a few words on most pages. I highly recommend previewing one or more books before purchasing.3.) They are funny. Most books have a clever twist at the end that everyone gets a kick out of.4.) They look terrific as a set. We own all of the books, and they look great lined up on our bookshelf. The book covers are very nice and sturdy. These are actually the ONLY books we've ever purchased new (all others were gifts or thrift store finds. We are penny pinchers, but these books are WORTH the dollars as they are terrific and look awesome).If you ARE familiar with the books, here's what you need to know about THIS book.1.) It's hilarious. The first time I read to my toddler (and the subsequent second through seventh time immediately after), she couldn't catch her breath she was laughing so hard at Piggy's "SNORE!!!"2.) Only Piggie and Elephant (and two pages of talking stuffed animals) appear in this book. No Dr. Cat, Brian Bat, etc.3.) **SPOILER** -- The twist in this book is it ends up all being a dream. It's VERY funny, but a bit advanced for my extremely articulate two year old. I'm not entirely sure she grasps the concept of a dream yet. She did a lot of asking why and how Piggie's head turned into a turnip, and my explanations were poor in her mind. I'm sure she will understand soon as she just turned two, but it was a twist I didn't expect.Bottom line -BUY ALL THE ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE BOOKS!

We are big fans of the public library, but Mo Willems is an author whose books are purchased as soon as they are released. My three girls are big fans of the Elephant and Piggie series, and were eagerly waiting for I Will Take A Nap.As the title suggests, Gerald the persnickety elephant wants to take a nap- but he is interrupted by Piggie. Gerald explains that he needs a nap because he is cranky, and napping helps him feel better. Gerald snaps at Piggie (who was being a little obtuse), and she snips back that now SHE is cranky. Gerald and Piggie try to take a nap together, but Piggie’s snoring disrupts Gerald. Will the cranky elephant ever get his nap?For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the series, there are some things that you should know. Elephant and Piggie books are easy readers. There is no prose; the characters communicate with each other via voice bubbles. The text is also very simple: “I am tired. And cranky. I will take a nap. I like to nap.” Each of those sentences appears on its own page, with Gerald spreading his blanket on the floor and preparing for his nap. The simple text and the back-and-forth dialogue make the books great for reading out loud and acting out the story with an emerging reader.It should also be noted that the illustrations are rather Spartan with Elephant and Piggie appearing against a plain white background. Willems scrimps on the background, but this allows him to focus on body language and facial expressions. Much of the comic relief in this story (as well as the others) comes from the faces the characters (usually Gerald) are making. On a more personal note, two of my girls are on the autism spectrum, and the exaggerated facial expressions help them make the connection between what a character is saying and how it relates to their feelings.I would absolutely recommend I Will Take a Nap. My three girls giggled and laughed throughout the story. There are over twenty books in the series, but they are all absolute gems and nothing feels stale or recycled. The girls were very excited to see Gerald clutching a stuffed Knuffle Bunny, another of Willems’ creations. This is a very funny book that children are sure to love!

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Not what I thought it would be about By TaDa! I bought this book hoping to learn about how to set up a virtual law office. Unfortunately, the book doesn't really address that topic the way I thought it would.I am not eligible to sit for the bar exam in the state I physically reside in, and, unfortunately, life circumstances are such that I cannot relocate for at least a couple of years. I took the bar exam in a different state, and I want to offer my legal services over the internet to clients located across the country. I am aware of other lawyers who have successfully employed such a business model and thought "Law Office on a Laptop" would cover such a situation. However, the book is more about communicating with clients within your own jurisdiction over your computer... which, frankly, all law offices do, "mobile" or not.My expectation was that the book would discuss the ethical concerns and unique considerations of practicing strictly over the internet, particularly offering legal services to clients located in other jurisdictions. The book doesn't even touch on this subject, as it seems to contemplate that you will still physically meet with clients - just at *their* home or office, rather than at your own office. So, it really did not address the concept of a true virtual law practice.It gives some good basic advice about setting up a business (in general), although some is inaccurate. For instance, an LLC is identified as a corporate structure, which it is not. "LLC" stands for "limited liability company", not "limited liability corporation"; an LLC has members, not shareholders... However, the advice on setting up electronic payment systems and other matters, for example, at least provides a starting point. The reader is frequently directed to conduct further research outside of the book, as the authors indicate that there are 'many resources available online' for particular topics. If I wanted to look it up online, I probably would have simply done that rather than buy the book, but I'll give a couple of stars for, in essence, putting together a comprehensive checklist of things to think about. The book is short does not go into depth about establishing a business, but it's a fair overview that you might want to start with. You'll definitely have to refer to other resources, however, if you actually want to set up a mobile law office.

Informative yet Uncomplicated By K Scarim This is a practical "How To" manual on how to start up a law practice with sample forms and links, however, there is also value to be had for any one with a home office or who wants to set up their own mobile business. I truly enjoyed the ebook version as I could click directly on the websites and links to resources...a real time saver... and the checklists at the end of each chapter will be helpful to many, I'm sure. Chapter 5 had great tips on marketing and getting clients...

Boeder The authors don't explain anything that hasn't been touched in numerous books on the subject of starting a law practice. Jay Foonbergs book from the 70's is frankly much more detailed.For instance, the writers don't address dealing with emails- how do you store them? Suggestions on saving to PDF and then to individual files? Or does one have separate files within the email program? Or?Frankly a waste of my time and moneyPosted by a lawyer with 39 years of experience in a variety of settings

By Ashlee Banks This author is very thorough and definitely knows what they're talking about. However, it did take me a while to understand certain things. After a while, I did pick it up quicker as the book was ending. However, this might have been me...Over than that, this book is great for someone who needs a brush up or someone who is trying to understand C#.

I've always wanted to pick up C programming as it's such a marketable course and it costs a lot of time and money to learn from a private school. So, it's great to be able to find a crash course within a book. That sure makes my job easier and the price is not steep either. There are some tips here about combining operators and doing loops, etc. You may well find it useful like in my case.

46 of 53 people found the following review helpful. One practice test in book, have to register for other. Review of statistics and probability is not included, and it should be. By Two kids mom First of all, one test is printed in the book, the other practice test is online. You do not get a code to sign up, you must find a specific word on a specific page to access the sign up page.You must then register. Although I do not mind setting up an account I object to the fact that a great deal of information is required, including email, school, graduation year, test date and phone. This should not be required to access a test for which the consumer has already paid.I am on my second kid taking these tests, so many of these books have been through my house.I am more qualified to review the math section than the English section. Review is provided, it is truly review, it will help a student who already knows the concept and simply needs a refresher. It will not teach them a new concept . This is fair, as the book is touted as review. The step by step method for solving (and hints) may be helpful for some students who are weak in math. A student who is strong in math will find them annoying.Interestingly, the college board has stated on the website that the new test will include some basic statistics and probability, and this book is missing review or explanation over topics that are listed as being included on the new PSAT. Unit two is is labeled “Problem solving and Data analysis” but then only “Introduction to problem solving” is included. Frankly this is very disappointing, because one of the major changes to the new PSAT is this inclusion of stat and probability, and many students have had no exposure to statistics by the time they take the PSAT. There ARE examples of sample questions in the sample test (a question about standard deviation, one on a distribution and so on) so it is clear that the writers know that these topics will be covered but they are NOT reviewed in the review section. It will be slightly helpful to me to see these sample questions, so I know what level of probability and statistics to teach to my kid and her friends, but the fact that this section is not reviewed at all is a serious omission.Answers and explanations are included. But this will be a problem for the statistics portion, as for example the answer to one of the questions explains that the data is not skewed. Since the student may have no idea what this means, this will be a problem.There is a good review of grammar, for which I am giving the book two stars.

9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. New PSAT For Fall 2015 - Larger Font By ChristineMM This is Kaplan's first PSAT prep book for the new test which will be used in fall 2015. The first thing I noticed compared to prior Kaplan books is the font is larger and there is less of a wide white margin on every page. I applaud this and think it's great.Each section follows the format of listing objectives and telling the "Kaplan method" for approaching the section. Then the material is explained, a review of material, then practice questions. There is one full practice test inside the book (page 319 and on) followed by answers and expanations. If you register your book online it unlocks more practice content to do online.Kaplan gives a money back guarantee if you do not improve your score or if you are not satisfied, it is explained inside the front cover how it works. Basically you have to return the book to them at your expense within 90 days and give your proof of purchase for a refund **within 90 days of purchase**. This is an issue for timing of the book's purchase, the use of the book, the October test date, and waiting for the results to be released by the College Board. Also since the standard in USA is to take the PSAT just once in Grade 11 I am not sure how you are supposed to prove the score did not improve if you take it only once. This guarantee on the front cover in red makes me a little annoyed and I was tempted to ding the book down to a 4 from a 5 but based on the prep alone I will focus on that good part and will rate it 5 stars.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Well designed Test Prep program for the PSAT By Liat2768 I have really come to trust Kaplan as the best resource for test practice and review. If you use the text carefully and in the way it is meant to be used, you have little need for an expensive test preparation class.The book explains the structure of the new PSAT, which year of high school to take it, how to sign up for it, and how to prepare. The material that needs to be covered is explained well and the solutions are clear and easy to understand. The book includes more than 500 practice questions and two practice tests. One of the practice tests is online and you get access to it once you register your book. Taking the online test generates a detailed score report which directs the student where his/her weaknesses are and which chapters in the book need to be covered again. Registering for Kaplan also allows you to sign up for scheduled online sessions where you can interact with an instructor through chat, audio and screen sharing. The online material also includes 16 extra chapters to help the students prep for the PSAT.For the price, I think the amount of resources and support provided makes this a great buy for a student prepping for the test and capable of working independently. A large portion of the material and resources that make this a good resource are only available online access so do keep that in mind.

If you are looking for a book to assist you to prepre for the ISTQB Foundation Exam, Yes, this is the one that you may consider. But if you are looking to explore the knowledgae and software testing skill, this is not the right book. I used the book for the former.Yes, I passed my ISTQB Exam using this book, just this book and nothing else. Prior to the preparation of the Exam, I have little background in this subject and I must say that this book is all you need. I have gone through the first 6 chapters 3 rounds, simply over a period of 2 weeks before the Exam, I passed with a score of 31/40. Not fantastic, considering on a self learning basis, this is a good achievement.Do take note: The questions available at the end of each chapter, can only be used as a reference to assess your readiness. The actual exam questions are different, and it is much more difficult.

The book tells you that this is all you need to pass the exam - and I for one am proof of this. I was already an IT professional in the QA sector, but this and the followup book provided me with the knowledge I needed to achieve a good pass in Foundation and later Intermediate. I have since recommended to several colleagues who have all thanked me for saving them money and giving advice they found helpful.The book is designed to give you a good grounding in testing knowledge and basics, and guides you through the sections of the Foundation exam very well. If you have testing experience so far, this book will cement the principles that you probably already know about, if you realise it or not. It'll introduce new ones, or aspects you haven't thought of (yet!).If you are IT minded and want to get into Quality Assurance, this is a fantastic step forward. Couple this with the correct IT skills(paid for or self taught) and market yourself as a newbie. If you are lucky enough to get an interview, but can blow them way with your QA knowledge then you'll have your foot in the door. A QA Certification does not make you a professional; the drive for professional development, learning new skills and being at an appropriate level for the job you are applying for makes you a professional.Pay for this book, the exam, get the free Syllabus PDF. Study your little heart out for a few weeks coming up to the exam. Job done!

It does a good job of stating the ISTQB syllabus objectives and includes a few sample questions in each section. This book would be more self contained with a glossary, although ISTQB has a glossary on their web site.People reading this book should be aware that the Foundation Level exam is heavy on terminology, process, and concepts. As such this book spends quite a bit of time on those topics, but does not give as thorough coverage of how to write good software tests as you will need to do a good job working in this field. There are also some differences in the terminology, and meaning of a few terms between this international exam and the meaning in common usage in the US.

Unidentified Funny Objects 4 Lands Amid Laughter By CJayBee The fourth installment of the dark humor anthology "Unidentified Funny Objects" (edited by Alex Shvartsman) continues to deliver the chuckles and laughs the series is known for.While not every story might be considered "dark" by all readers, I was impressed by the sheer variety, genre selections and the overall quality of workmanship in each tale.In every anthology I've read, there are usually more than a few stories which stand out in my mind as superior. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of such stories which will stick with me for quite some time.If you're looking for some quality fiction with humorous overtones, you've found your latest book.My personal highlights include;- "We Can Get Them for You Wholesale" (N. Gaiman): One of my favorite shorts of all time- "In the End You Get Clarity" (L. Pearlman)- "Bob's No Kill Monster Shelter" (I. Creasey): Very innovative use of a framing device.- "The Worm That Turned" (J. Lynn Nye): Continuing the excellent adventures from the first anthology

And though it is the first book I have read, I am quite interested in the predecessors. Personally i found George Martin and Mike Resnick's contributions the funniest in the book, I laughed til i cried at the monkey diet and have been since inspired to purchase the Lucifer Jones chronicles to see what this crazy pastor was all about. To be truthful all the contributions are solid and very good reads and I will be looking into a few more of the authors but those two really stood out as funniest.

This is a great little collection of humorous sci-fi and fantasy stories By SHANNON RAMPE This is a great little collection of humorous sci-fi and fantasy stories, even edging into funny horror. The theme is dark humor, which is something I always enjoy. The stories by Esther Friesner and Andrew Kaye were my favorites. Really what I enjoyed best about the anthology was the diversity of styles and stories that all fit the overall theme. Each story was different - some struck me as humorous while others were downright funny - but all were immensely readable.

Wants In Dark Service by Stephen Hunt, the first book in the Far Called Trilogy, is a book that dabbles for a long time until the story and characters finally step up in the last third. While that might not sound appealing, I enjoyed the book and will read on when the next part of the series is released. Especially the setting deserve special mention, as it is vast and diverse.The story revolves around a father, Jacob Carnehan, and his son, Carter. Their quiet live is blasted apart by a raid from air nomads that abduct the able people as slaves. Jacob, who's more than meets the eye, pursues these raiders and he'll stop at nothing to get his son back. But between him and his son lie million of miles, not a distance you can cross even in decades.Yes, you read that right. There's a reason the series is called Far Called. The world is huge, bigger than any other fantasy world I've read about. While that's a great idea, it doesn't always work, because its proportions boggle the mind and aren't easily grasped. Most of the world isn't mentioned anyway and is nothing more than a distance on a map. What's interesting in the setting are the differences in development of the countries. While we start the journey in a country resembling the frontier of the wild west, there are tales from the Burn, which features warlords fighting with sticks instead of rudimental firearms. The farther we come to the source of the abductions, the more advanced the countries grow, until we see tanks and giant aircrafts.The main problem of the book are the characters. While Jacob with his dark past is a great character to follow, driven and determined to do anything, his son and the other characters from their hometown are lackluster. Carter and his rival Benner are some of the biggest fools I've seen. That doesn't really make them endearing. They don't even work together after their town has been raided and they and many others have been abducted and sold into slavery. And the reason for their (rather recent) rivalry, or maybe even hatred, is a woman that's the icon of being a bitch. She couldn't be more obvious had she 'bitch' stitched in her forehead for everyone to see. They pale especially in regard to Jacob and that makes their part harder to read, because it's not easy to build a connection to them. They only start going forward in the last third of the book and that helps the whole book enormously.The last third of the book finally steps up the pace and more players come to the screen, mysteries are revealed and established, and we get a look at what's at stake and who the factions warring over the world are. The characters, especially Carter and Benner, grow up and start to form their own personality. The ending itself is a big fest of action.While you can't call the book predictable, there are more than a few instances where the next steps or even the outcome is obvious. That decreases the joy of discovery and wonder somewhat.My biggest gripe with the book is something I can't really talk about without fear of spoilering you. You can always head over to my blog, should you want to know more. Let me just say that a plan is formed that is so obvious there's no chance they'd be the first to try. Which makes the whole plan kinda worthless.Concluding, I can say that I can recommend the book. You might have to slog through the first half, but I'm glad I stayed with the book to the end. Its setting is interesting and the ending makes me wonder what's to come in the next installments. It's a very solid debut that lacks some flourish and isn't quite smooth on the edges. I'd like to see some more differentiation and personality for the characters in the next books. There's much room to growth. Get the book when you want fantasy different from the medieval-style setting. Its wild west setting works quite well and the books has room for a lot of different settings for the author to explore.

Lots of Action/Intriguing World Building By Amanda Markham If you’ve seen reviews of this book saying ‘it’s a slog’, ignore them.I suspect the people who wrote these are not regular readers of speculative/epic fantasy/sci-fi series and lack the patience required to read in these genres. The first chapter is a little slow, but after that, there’s non-stop, hurt-me-more action. Without giving too much away, this review will focus on the characterisation and the world which Mr Hunt has built. The novel sits within the steampunk/speculative fiction universe. I can’t bring myself to call it sci-fi, as the characters, and not the science, are the main point of the book.The premise of the novel is a that a group of young people are kidnapped by slavers and taken far, far away to work in hellish mines on a volcano. The fathers of the young people then mount a rescue attempt that seems doomed to fail given the sheer vastness of the world of Pellas (hundreds of millions of kilometres), and the vested interests of the empire controlling the mines. Please do not think this is YA fiction. It is NOT. The ‘young people’ are in their 20s, and they –shock horror!- behave as adults would: they have sex, swear and act in ways that are totally self-serving at times. I loved the book, although I would have put a little more swearing in it!First up, the world of Pellas.Pellas is world without end, a concept I haven’t encountered in spec. fiction before. It’s a world so vast, cartographers can’t map the boundaries. Nations are not separated by mere distance, but by the kind of time needed in our universe to travel the stars: generations upon untold generations.It’s also an ‘uneven’ world – the kind of world I love.By ‘uneven’, I refer to the fact that nations are not all based on medieval Europe, or on Victorian London/Paris. Rather, they are technologically and culturally diverse. Some have electricity, guns, advanced medicine and rocket engines; others are populated by agrarians, hunter gatherers, pastoral city-states. The technological advancement –or not- of nations is as unique as Hunt’s development of Pellas: the more distant your nation is from the stratovolcanoes which spew out ores, the less metal your people have.The thirst for metals, the empire that controls the lands around the ore-spewing stratovolcanoes, and the vastness of Pellas itself are as much characters in the novel as the ‘real’ point-of-view characters are. The world is delicious and complex.The other point I will talk about in this review are the characters themselves.The book is written in third person. There are three main point-of-view characters, Jacob Carnehan, his son, Carter, and their ‘frenemy’, Duncan Landor, the son of a wealthy rural landholder. Duncan’s sister, Willow, is also a POV character, but gets much less air time in the book.The characters develop slowly, and the character arcs for Duncan, Carter and Willow are far from complete by the end of the novel. Jacob Carnehan undergoes the most dramatic change in the novel –from mild pastor to blood-thirsty gunslinger, and I have to say that I enjoyed him more and more as the novel unfolded. Carter can be annoying – I’m not convinced that ‘trouble follows him’ in the way that everyone else seems to say, as he has a rationale for what he does. He doesn’t develop quite as much as his father, but I did glimpse the beginnings of some changes which I suspect will be developed more in the following books. Duncan goes from spoilt landholders’ son, to house slave then free man of the imperium, and develops loyalty and the ability to care for someone he shouldn’t, but in the end, still manages to be the same self-centred, survivalist prat that he was at the beginning of the story. The minor characters, Kerge, Owen, Khow, Sheplar and Sariel all play their supporting roles well.Whilst the female characters don’t get much airtime as POV in the novel, those you meet are all strong, kick-arse women. The female antagonist, Helrena Skar, is particularly well-written and much more complex than simply a rich warrior princess used as a plot device to personify cruelty. I suspect Willow will be a main POV character in the next book, just as I suspect that she and Carter will be torn apart after just having found each other.There is some romance, several tastefully written sex scenes, lots of blood, guts, fighting and desperate chases. There are guns, bows, radio signals, planes, gliders and explosions – in other words, there is a lot of action.Even better, UK spelling has been used throughout the book – I jump for joy every time I see the word ‘arse’ instead of the weak, insipid ‘ass’ (a donkey-horse cross in my part of the world, not a swear word), and I love the double ‘L’ in travelling. Viva la revolution and keep the English language English.My main complaint about the book would be Mr Hunt’s paragraph lengths. Some paragraphs extend across more than one page; this is intimidating and off-putting for many readers. I would recommend splitting these up, then those saying the book is a slog would probably change their minds. There were several typos in the book (scapular when it should be ‘scapula’), and the edition I am reading is a clunky, big ‘trade paperback’ - too big to carry around in your handbag. I would have preferred that the publishers release a proper paperback, but then here in Australia we are yoked to the big boy publishing companies who care about making money, and not so much about getting readers’ eyes on deserving authors’ words.In all, I can’t wait to read the next book and am a little miffed that I will then have to wait until June 2016 (again, this is not the author’s fault but that of the publishing houses), to read the final book.Lastly, to Stephen Hunt: thank you for writing a book where I found myself caring so much about several of the characters, I was worrying over their fates when I was away from the novel for a week whilst travelling. It’s been a while since a book has done that to me, so you are to be congratulated. I am a very fussy reader and as a fellow published author, hard to please.NB: This review is based on the trade paperback, not the Kindle version, but as I couldn't leave a reveiw on the paperback, I'm leaving it here.

Hozendorf Mr. Hunt never fails to entertain and yes the build up/ development are slow going but hopefully that means he's planning on a long and thorough series once again. Just wish Amazon would messing around with his publisher for e-readers.....

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I was at my wits end with Big Box Bar Review. This book is the reason I PASSED the bar exam. By Jonathan This afternoon, I found out I passed the July 2015 NJ Bar Exam. After having taken it twice before with the help of a certain "Big Box Bar Review" (BBBR) program worth at least $3k and coming up short, I was seriously considering giving up, as this test was such an uphill battle for me.But then I decided to "think outside the box", and I discovered this book while perusing independent sources from BBBR and the thing that jumped out at me most was "Authentic Licensed MBE Questions." If you ask anyone whose taken the test recently, they may elaborate that the MBE has apparently gotten harder. I had noticed this from studying with BBBR when the questions seemed to come out of left field. I failed NJ in July 2014 by 20 points and then again in February 2015 by 8. At that point, I was 90% convinced it was going to be impossible for me to pass this test.Although, when I found Multistate Goat, I knew with this book I was giving myself a fair chance. My technique deviated slightly from Klein. I started out by doing 30 problems, then gradually increasing to 50. By the month of the test I was doing a full OPE every other day (Tuesdays and Thursdays spent on essay practice). By the week of, I was doing two full OPEs (200 questions) every other day. It was important to keep my stamina in check as I wanted to be as familiar with the conditions as possible. I also supplemented Civ Pro by using Civil Procedure MBE Practice Questions: Simulated MBE Practice Questions Testing Civil Procedure with Answers and ExplanationsBy the time I took the test, the MBE felt hard, but not unbelievably frustrating and sisyphean like it had for me before. I owe it all to this book. I got my results today and I passed, with my MBE score having gone up an extra 10 points.Jessica Klein, if you are reading this - THANK YOU! You saved my career. :-)

By Amazon Customer I stumbled upon this book in late June 2015, right after this book was published. I used it to study for the July 2015 California Bar Examination, and I listened to the instructions in this book and used this book as my ONLY source to study for the MBE. As explained in this book, using the made up or extremely outdated practice questions will not help you. You'll only be hurting yourself by going with the "big name" bar prep courses out there because once you get to test day, the actual questions will look nothing like the ones you have been studying.This book only uses actual, and recent questions released by the NCBE. This is the second state bar I've passed, the first time I used one of the big test prep companies and I walked out of the MBE feeling a little blindsided, because the questions on exam day were nothing like the ones I had studied. After using this book, however, I walked out of the second day of the exam feeling as if I recognized both the content and the structure of all of the questions on the exam. It boosted my confidence and enabled me to finish the questions in record time. Most importantly, I PASSED!I highly recommend this book to everyone. Only use this book to study for the MBE. You'll save time, money, and are much more likely to pass . It's a no-brainer!Good luck!

Do NOT recommend By Eko DO NOT PURCHASE.Besides the incompetent spelling errors, the rules are NOT similar to a general BarPrep Course and what is to be assumed what Bar testers will ask. The answer explanations are repetitive and will not actually explain why the incorrect answers are wrong.I would not have wasted $100+ if I knew this was the case.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Book By Takuma Matsui I'm a voice student at Berklee and had the privilege of working with Jeannie a year ago. I've studied classical voice for well over 12 years now, and as much as I enjoy the Bel Canto style, I've felt frustrated that belting is a bit of a taboo between classically trained vocalists. This limitation led me to be more picky about my repertoire and style which... sucked. I think what's great about this book is not just that it addresses the technical aspect of the human voice, but establishes a real healthy attitude for a vocalist to see themselves. The exercises are simple but engaging, and the short tunes included are easy to sing and it actually bridges the gap to exploring actual music out there that includes a lot of belting. Worth EVERY penny you should get it.

By davidlkeck I worked with Jeannie for 3 years at Berklee, and I learned very quickly that she is one of the most knowledgeable vocal technicians in the business. Her first book, Your Singing Voice, was an incredible addition to my vocal technique and wellness, and this book, Belting, has already become a valuable part of my daily singing practices. If you want to practice, and to improve singing in a contemporary, belty voice, this book is an one-in-all guide to doing it! The audio and video examples are particularly helpful and unique. This book will be beneficial to all levels of singers, from those just starting to train, to professionally trained vocalists.

There are so many conflicting statements from singing teachers as to how to access this sound in a healthy way. This book explains in detail how a student should safely approach belting, but even more helpful are the video demonstrations and audio exercises provided online as an accompaniment to the book. I really need something to SHOW me the "how" in action, and these videos fit the bill. What a great book!
