By Pam The author lumps a lot together under "HTML5" that I don't think belongs there, and talks less than expected about the HTML5 spec. He starts off with an ASP.NET example, moves to an ASP.NET MVC example, then CSS example. All good things, but not what I expected.Only in Part 3 and 4 does he get into new HTML5 stuff: audio, video, SVG, Canvas, Indexed DB, Geolocation, WebSockets, and drag and drop; and never really into basic HTML5, nor about how to set up and use Visual Studio to write basic HTML5, Javascript, and CSS. So it really wasn't what I expected.The book was fun, but at 400 pages was missing a lot of detail, discussing what was shown as examples and some tips, but not in-depth. I did learn a lot. If you are an old ASP.NET programmer then this is an excellent book as an overview, and some of the details, on what you need to move into today's programming world. But I was still left wondering how to best use Visual Studio with HTML5 since neither is covered much in the book.

The formatting was all over the place, the intro and conclusion seemed completely disconnected, both from the work as a whole and from one another, there were two identical pleas for reviews complete with clickbait links to random videos... Honestly this would have been better if it was simply posted as a list and the reader went to find the definitions and pronunciations on their own, which as it stands one would have to do anyway. Many of the words lack a pronunciation guide entirely, while others either lack syllabic emphasis or use IPA, which is completely unfamiliar to most people. Some of the words were quite archaic or otherwise obsolete.I think with a lot of work this could be acceptable for what it is, but that work was clearly not put in before publishing. Great for high school, Pre-college students By Gee I was already familiar with most of the vocabulary here, although reviewing them in book format has reminded me to use some more often. I think this is a good starting point for those interested in building a better vocabulary, however, I am estimating the words are high school / pre-college level. If you already possess a strong vocabulary, this short list will not likely prove beneficial to you. I have given four stars because some of the words lacked the pronunciation.

I love the character in the book, I love how they feel more like catching up with a friend then just reading a story about fictional characters. In the beginning I wrote down that Andie was broken, but loved deeply, she was tough but had a soft spot. Sam was running from something but was also hiding from something, he also loved deeply but didn't always show it. When I finished the book I would have to that some of those where not that far off and thats what made the book what it was. The chemistry between the characters and I mean all the main ones will keep you going from the beginning to the end. I also have to say this is one book I was not ready to stop reading at the end I just wanted to read so much more. I can not wait for Owen's story to come out. This book will not disappoint at all if you are looking for a fun read that has you going through the whole book this is the book for you.

It is another small town, contemporary romance, with enough points of difference to help it stand out from the myriad of books that follow this format. I quickly became engaged and thoroughly enjoyed it.Andi Shepard is the local sheriff, once a city cop, but now doing her policing in a place she loves. Just when things are going along nicely for Andi some surprises come her way that turn her world upside down. Caitlin arrives, insecure and untrusting of women especially. Andi will have her work cut out to gain her trust. Then Sam arrives back on the island and starts Andi off in a journey of self discovery and reformulating of what she believes. As well as that the local rich man Dabney Leeds is about to shake up Andi's hold on the sheriff badge. I really liked how Andi adapted to all these challenges and in spite of her family background comes through for herself, Caitlin and Sam.Sam arrives on the island with a highly strung horse that needs to be rescued from its abusive owner. Queenie takes up residence at Jo's stables and Caitlin falls in love with her, even though the two are no way ready for each other. Later added into this mix is another local horse that badly needs Sam's help and attention. Sam too has a really sad, tough background and he doesn't want this to anyway harm Andi or Caitlin. What he doesn't figure on is the love they have for him or the sense of pride and community on this island. Here they value horses, there are a group of wild horses protected on this island, so Sam's work is rated.Along with all this runs a smaller story of Taylor and Matt. Previously these two were found illegally hanging out in Heartbreak Cove - part of the wild horse sanctuary. They had been dealt with by Andi and Taylor especially has changed her wild teenage ways. She has some skills on computer, and is best friends with Matt who has a girlfriend. But Taylor wants more.My prediction of what would happen to the horses turned out to be correct. I found the ending satisfying, in a slightly Disney or Hallmark movie way. I did have questions about the way one of the townspeople turned at the end. Slightly all too cosy an ending. However I love a happy ending for everyone so I am not too upset by it.I will most certainly be looking forward to Home For Christmas later in the year - which tells the story of Caitlin's Dad. I am sure we'll see him before too much longer on Sanctuary Island.

I discovered Lily Everett's writing a little more than a year ago and I have yet to be disappointed. Every time I read one of her books in the Sanctuary Island series, I am ready to pack my bags and move there by the time I finish the book. An island with wild horses and a great community - who wouldn't want to live there? While this book could be read as a stand alone, parts of this story build upon events from the previous book, Shoreline Drive.Andie is the elected sheriff on Sanctuary Island, a job which keeps her quite busy. Her world gets turned upside down in this book. Not only is Sam back on the island with a wild horse, she also gets a call from her brother telling her that she has a niece that she didn't know about. Before she knows it, Andie finds herself caring for her niece, Caitlin, on a full time basis. As if that were not enough, she must also try to keep her job as sheriff.Sam is on Sanctuary Island but he isn't sure how long he will stay this time. He has brought a horse with him to rehabilitate. Andie's niece, Caitlin, falls instantly in love with that horse, Queenie, and responds to Sam better than anyone else. Sam sees a lot in Caitlin and knows some of the things the little girl is going through from his own past experiences. Sam has also brought a few secrets with him to Sanctuary Island that he works hard to protect others from.I am always amazed by how much detail Lily Everett is able to put into her books. There is so much going on this book and everything works together so well. Each character has their own amazing story to tell. The focus of this book isn't just Andie, Sam, and Caitlin, but instead focuses on Taylor, Matt, the horses, and really the island as a whole. I love the fact that this book ties nicely into the previous book.I really liked Andie and Sam together and thought that they had fantastic chemistry. I would have liked a little bit more of Caitlin's story but I have a feeling that more will be told in the next book. There was enough excitement in this book that I had a hard time putting it down and even though I found a few parts to be predictable, I loved the story overall.I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. Lily Everett has written a wonderful story that takes place on an island I think most readers will want to visit again. I can't wait to learn more about the residents of this wonderful little island in future book in this series.I received an advance reader edition of this book from St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

I mean, let's face it, guys: Who better than a thoughtful, intelligent, creative woman to provide us with insights into how best to behave when we're on the prowl--and even afterward, in the most secure of long-term relationships. I really enjoyed this read. It's quick-witted, well written and had me grinning in a dozen different places. The author even manages to address my very real concern about this new texting generation--the tragic loss of the ability to have an actual conversation with a fellow human being, not to mention how rude it can be when you're trying to spend quality time with someone who's constantly clicking away at their phone--by reminding us that texting, in the context of wooing a mate, must at some critical point give way to the ability to be just as witty, charming and engaging in person. Teaches good texting habits By Lenna Lyon I actually enjoyed reading this book because the subject was light and the writing was fairly simple to understand. More importantly, it gives sound advice on how to text properly. Some people are turned off by texting, but this book explains the benefits of texting and how it can be a time-saver if done in the proper manner. The book does not only discuss texting, but it also encourages the direct mode of conversation which should be the fruit of texting. I agree with the author that communication is not through texting alone, but relationships are maintained by moving onto the next level mode. I am passing on this book to my son because I know he can learn some good habits from it.

This book is very helpful not only for having sex, for our lady friends, in another case our girlfriends. Felicia Vine did a great job here, she obviously has so much experience in this types of cases.

Colby Joanna Penn has a knack for covering a wide berth of information in clear and concise ways. This book covers the various ways writers can make a living through their craft. If you are new to the idea of making a living through writing or to the writing industry in general, this is a perfect guide for you. However, if you already know your publishing options and other ways to create income streams through writing, reading this book may be a good refresher, but I would advise going straight to BUSINESS FOR AUTHORS.

If you’ve already made the leap, then one of Joanna’s other books might be more targeted; this one is for the beginner.Joanna doesn’t just preach how to make money from writing; she lives it. In a previous life, she was a consultant, and her business background shows through in everything she does to grow her business of writing.So everything she says is worth listening to; every author will get something from what she suggests. And the key point about this book is that she is giving you actionable advice, not high-level concepts.Some of the most important ideas in the book are shared in the Overview at the beginning where Joanna shares her general principles and way of working. I liked how the problems have been categorized and presented By Amazon Customer As wikipedia says, the (original book, Līlāvatī, written in Sanskrit) "...is Indian mathematician Bhāskara II's treatise on mathematics, written in 1150. It is the first volume of his main work, the Siddhānta Shiromani, alongside the Bijaganita, the Grahaganita and the Golādhyāya. The book contains thirteen chapters, mainly definitions, arithmetical terms, interest computation, arithmetical and geometrical progressions, plane geometry, solid geometry, the shadow of the gnomon, the kuttaka - a method to solve indeterminate equations, and combinations."This book, based on the John Taylor translation, serves as an illustrated sampler to the original book, presenting a few problems each from linear equations, arithmetic, quadratic equations, proportions, progressions, combinatorics, geometry etc. I liked how the problems have been categorized and presented. In between the chapters there is also a lot of relevant additional information. I also noticed the different styles of illustration used in different contexts, they enrich the book. The styles are in excellent harmony with the 'ancient India' theme. It is an easy read, and the mathematics involved is modern-day high-school level at most, so anyone with that amount of exposure should be able to enjoy it.

This group is made up of humans whose sole purpose is to rid the world of the shifter population.Aidan has left his family’s farm in the hands of his brother, Derek, and is determined to find and stop the Sons of Domnall from their mission, but he also has another agenda. Finding the person or person(s) who, he believes, murdered his parents.Heidi Blackwood is a werewolf, and the daughter of her packs Alpha. Her father has sent her to Edinburgh to take part in the Alliance and their mission to eliminate the Sons of Domnall. She is stunned when Aidan greets her at the front door of the Alliance and she realizes that he is her mate. She recognizes that there is something different about him, but cannot put her finger on what that difference might be.Heidi proves to be a valuable asset to the Alliance and eventually works her way into a meeting with the Sons of Domnall and the story takes off from there. Can Aidan find the hideout of the Sons, can he and Heidi truly be mates? These are just a couple of the mysteries to be solved in this novella.Again, this is a novella, so a very quick, but thoroughly enjoyable listen/read with plenty of action, emotion, and heat to keep the listener/reader interested. By Happily Ever Chapter ** Provided by Author in Exchange for an Honest Review **Judging a Book by it's Cover:Staying with the same great colors from book 1, an equally adorable bear sits in the background while the male model is in front with a bare torso and tattoos.Looking Deeper:Third person POV. Novella > under 100 pages. Can stand alone, but it would be better to read in order.It's been 15 years since his parents died and Aiden is still searching for the answers that tie their death to the Sons of Domnall, now as a member of the Alliance. The Rannock Alpha has sent Heidi, his own daughter, to be the wolf representative for the Alliance, to watch and insure balance for all shifter species. Neither Aiden nor Heidi ever expected to find their mate in their Alliance partner. Both lead characters are strong and mostly smart. The secondary characters include Derek and Clarice (book 1) as well as a few new ones. The chemistry is instantaneous, although they both try to avoid it at first. Dialogue is very good, so it character interaction. The plot felt more like a serial episode that a complete story. There are many loose ends and open possibilities in every direction. Flow is very smooth and easy to read. The conflict is not easy to ignore, but somehow it is avoided as a non-issue. HEA is implied, but never seen through yet. Already, ADB is leading the reader into AFL. This one just did not feel as complete as AUA, and the serial aspect to the ending is much more pronounced in this one, leading to some disappointment. Williams I’m the perfect audience for Jordan Tannahill’s book "Theatre of the Unimpressed." I go to a play or live performance every couple of months as a special treat. Lately I've been leaving the theatre thinking, “I guess I’m glad I saw that award winner so that I know what people are taking about” or “I’m not sure what all the buzz is about.” Few shows stick with me for a long time.Tannahill is an award-winning playwright and theatre director from Toronto. He helps run a miniscule alternative art space in Toronto. He practices what he preaches, so he’s the perfect person to criticize the movie-star-filled blockbusters and hollow Broadway spectaculars that make up so much of today’s popular theatre-going experience.This slim volume is overflowing with ideas and "angry young gay man" criticism of current theatre practice. Tannahill begins by criticizing the popular play "Driving Miss Daisy." Every regional theatre has performed it, but Tannahill compares it to a bland orgy that he once organized. All the right components are in place but it winds up being a boring slough that never takes off.One of Tannahill’s central critiques revolves around the “well-made play.” Adopted in the early nineteenth century, this concept describes a play in which the crucial part of the story has taken place before the onstage action and the climax comes late in the play to explain the drama that just appeared on the stage. (Oscar Wilde’s "The Importance of Being Earnest," Tennessee Williams’s "Suddenly Last Summer," and Tracy Letts’s "August: Osage Country" present textbook examples of this formula, offering speeches that disclose crucial information only at the very end of the play.) Tannahill argues that this kind of stage realism does not exploit the possibilities that live theatre offers.One of Tannahill's major arguments centers on the lack of risk and the avoidance of failure in most contemporary fare. He summarizes Jack Halberstam’s recent book "The Queer Art of Failure," which offers failure as a form of resistance to capitalism and heteronormity, where queerness can exist outside society’s view of “success.” He also praises Samuel Beckett’s striking stage images and theatrical situations that trade in poetic logic rather than naturalism.Between these two major critiques, Tannahill points out a series of other issues that limit new productions: Dramaturges try to turn new plays into something that the playwright didn’t intend. Companies repeatedly perform “museum theatre” in fixed ways, when updated staging or creative casting could re-invigorate an old chestnut. Stage companies need to fill large single-use commercial spaces with subscription theatre attendees.As solutions, Tannahill points out the advantages that live theatre offers over filmed presentations, and the unexpected possibilities of web-based performance. He offers examples of the authentic “life” that a spontaneous actor can bring to a performance.Tannahill offers plenty of examples of successful shows that he’s directed or seen. These are probably the best parts of the book. He generally avoids academic terms and assumes that readers are not theatre queens who will automatically be familiar with every play and playwright he mentions. But "Theatre of the Unimpressed" is for thinking theatre supporters, not casual matinee goers.Tannahill believes that one bad experience can turn off a person from the theatre forever. That hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’m now going to make an effort to see more truly live theatre that exploits the possibilities of a live performance and that introduces some risk into my theatre routine. For the first time in quite a while, I’m looking forward to going to the theatre again.

An insightful, passionately argued treatise By Greg Trefry A very insightful book full of excellent examples drawn from a load of theater viewing, reading and conversations with smart theater artists. His argument might have benefited from some examples of work drawn further afield from theater and performance.None of the ideas advanced here are super provocative, but that's probably a good thing: he's not beating a drum to his own tune, rather trying to rally people behind an idea which seems very much in motion.

It's incredibly refreshing as a practitioner to read theatrical theory that is up to speed with out times and societies. I've been highly recommending this to everyone in the field.
