It is probably written primarily with beginning and intermediate French speakers in mind, but advanced French speakers can also "upgrade" the techniques they use to learn the language. There are many techniques described in the book on how to learn French efficiently and in a fun way. There is also a lot about motivation and self-confidence--I found this most helpful.I am an an advanced French speaker, and I still found this book indispensable.

Instead, it tries to provide some tips for language learning, but I found them to be either common sense (e.g., spend time each day) or not very helpful. The author does not give clear guidelines for how to learn, but instead just suggests choosing among all the usual options (Assimil, Duolingo, etc). The author is a native French speaker who has learned English, but doesn't have any experience learning French. There are lots of free language learning blogs on the web that provide better advice, along with comments by other users that can be very informative, so a simple web search will give you better results.

I'd say it's rather for beginners and intermediate French speakers, but even folks with an advanced level could also "upgrade" the way they use to learn the language or apply some techniques described in the book to other languages. What I liked is that it contains not only a ton of useful practical information on how to learn French efficiently and in a fun way, but also a part about motivation, how to believe in yourself and get rid of all the limitations you have in your head. I am myself not a complete beginner, but "Upgrade your French" cleared my head and helped me build my own plan of learning this language.I was already a bit familiar with the author's style of writing and I wasn't disappointed in this regard as well. I especially appreciated the author's humour which makes reading a book about such a, as it would seem, hard process like language learning much easier and fun.I saved a lot of links from "Upgrade your French" and thanks to it, I seemed to have found my perfect language course :)
