About the Author J.B. Everhart is the pen name I am writing my military science fiction under. I have the typical author background, a huge variety of odd meaningless jobs as I wait for the writing opportunity to come along. A great entry level novel for this young author By Ezraxiv A great entry level novel for this young author, Starkindler is an action-packed, tightly paced Mech drama set on Mars in the not too distant future. While the book is a little light getting started to establish characters, do not overlook the content of the first chapters When I finished this I had to go back and review some and it really elevated the whole book for me. It wasn't any massive twist in particular, no crazy deus ex machina to make this novel interesting. A staggering blitz of detail and the furious pacing of the book kept me enthralled and it only gets better and better through the book.. Once the action starts, it ebbs just enough to let you catch your breath before more intense tech-savvy, smartly written prose. Truly, the last 5 or so chapters are so well done, it really ends on a cliffhanger and you hold your breath to the last word. One of the best things I liked was that a lot of the great tech used in the book is right on the cutting edge of current technology. Few flights of fancy to try to carry the imagination in this first of a hopefully long career for the author, just solid excitement!
