1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Queen who? By KLP Weber has tried to capsulize the 50 most important events since the Industrial Revolution. This was a fairly decent attempt at doing the task. I just found myself disagreeing so much with quite a number of the "events" that he selected and being very surprised that he excluded others that I view as being much more important. So, what I will do here is list both those events that I don't think were deserving of being in the top 50 and some additional ones that were excluded. I do not intend to make the reader slog through my rationale - hopefully that will be obvious from the event name.Clearly Mr. Weber has an Old World bent and I think his predilections were overly influenced by his deep affection for England and the European continent.Events that should be dumped:Mutiny of the Bounty; Victoria Becomes Queen; Austria-Hungary establish dual Monarchy; European Union receives Nobel peace prize; Chernobyl disaster; Churchill's Iron Curtain speech; Munich massacre; Gandhi's Civil disobedience; League of Nations holds first meeting; Freud publishes dream paper; Spring of Nations;Haiti independence; Rousseau publishes a paper.Events that should have been included:Atomic bomb invented and used; Transistor invented (1947) by Bell Labs; Tesla invents Alternating Current; World War One ends and foments World War Two; Post World War Two television is expanded globally; Automatic weapons developed and used (1918 by Thompson). I have others, but these are chief among them.Anyway, good job Mr Weber even if we have differences in what constitutes a top 50 event.

Author James Weber did the research and compiled this huge list of events that changed the course of history forever. Accurate "History" is always difficult for reasons that are obvious to anyone that has ever tried to either study it or write about it. Paul weber has blended a good balance . His research is thorough enough to force one to seriously consider his conclusions. All in all, this was a very enjoyable, interesting, and enlightening book and I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm suddenly glad I was able to download the book at the time of distribution for free.The book contains a brief excursion 50 important events in world history.Update dates of events is easy if you have finished college a long time.
