David Drake hs taught me more history than a cadre of history profs managed. Read his books he's always kind enough to provide a historical note then look up the events. His mentees bid fair to do the same for a new generation.

A Worthy Homage to Drake By Mark Campbell This is a festshrift of numerous short stories in honor of David Drake by authors who admire him, have been influenced by him, are his friends, or all three. While the quality of the individual contributions naturally varies from the truly sublime to very good to one that is merely adequate at best (but that's only ONE out of many!), overall they are good. In tone they range from humorous to deadly serious; I expected this to be somewhat offputting, but after reading the entirety of the volume found instead that the variety made the whole experience more pleasant. A new Hammer's Slammers short story by Drake himself is included, which is the icing on the cake. Overall a very enjoyable read, and certainly worth the price. Strongly recommended for any fan of any of Drake's work.

The perspective from authors who have worked with David over the years is just great and may give you some added insight into the kind of guy and author David is in real life. Highly recommended and there is a story in this compilation for everyone and anyone to enjoy.
