About the Author My name is not really Erica Stevens, it is a pen name that I chose in memory of two amazing friends lost too soon, I do however live in Mass with my wonderful husband and our puppy Loki. I have a large and crazy family that I fit in well with. I am thankful every day for the love and laughter they have brought to my life. I have always loved to write and am an avid reader.

It is my middle name. Weird parents. If you have never read any of Erica Stevens' books ( and why is my question, WHY?? ) grab them , summer is here so reading time begins in earnest and go! I must say first off, I LOVED this book. The characters feel like people you could meet out on the streets and you have a heads up on them by Erica's writing. Very honest and fully fleshed out.Julian, Julian.....wait where was I? Oh yes, Julian, what a man, vampire, hunk. Gorgeous, hunky ( yes it is a word ) manly, you just want to get lost in him. He will take care of you or kill for you. What more is there? And Quinn, vamp and a few other things. ( Spoilers dear readers, never give them. ) She is a tough, caring, somewhat damaged gal. But it works for her and to keep her safe. And she has a special power, great power, that you need to read the book to find out about. There are fighting, loving, and romance scenes in this book. No sex scenes. I actually liked that part. But hopefully there will be mild sex scenes in the next books. ( Hey I am woman, hear me roar for mild sex scenes. )If I could give more stars I would. But 5 is all I am allowed. BUY this book, grab some iced tea, a rum runner, beer and a comfy chair and lose yourself for a while. Oh, you are welcome. Enjoy!

By llg115 We met Julian in the Kindred Series and witnessed his transformation from a ruthless, deadly vampire, to someone worth giving a second chance. It's been a few years and Julian is still working with the Hunters and Guardians as they try to come back from near extinction. It is during one of these trips to find Hunters that he meets Quinn.Quinn is a very unique vampire and one who has tried hard to live inconspicuously among humans. She's haunted by a terrifying and heartbreaking past and doesn't let anyone get too close. She didn't count on Julian, though, and his very assertive personality. When a new threat presents itself, Quinn and Julian must work together to eradicate it. They come to rely on each other more and develop feelings for one another. They'll need that support as the prophesied threat to Quinn becomes clearer. The book doesn't end on a cliff-hanger per se, but there will definitely be more Julian and Quinn in the future. It's one of those endings I can be comfortable with rather than frustrated that I have to wait for more.

I haven't read every single book in that series and I remember not being terribly attached to this character from what I did read, however, things have definitely changed. I read this book, which happens after the Kindred Series timeline-wise., and Julian has really grown on me. In fact, this was a great book! Even if you haven't read any of Erica Stevens's books, pick this one up. If you like the vampire and paranormal genre, try it out! Julian is a complicated, cranky vampire who is hanging out with a bunch of Hunters and Guardians in Frost Burn. Now most vampires would avoid them, but Julian has changed and decided to help the world instead of doing what many others have by going out and bleeding people dry. While he is out and about with his friends, he meets Quinn. She has been trying to survive as a vampire for the past 6 years and avoid as many other vampires as much as possible, but she will do what she must to keep the town she lives in safe. After becoming a vampire when the rest of her family was decimated, she doesn't trust vampires much, and that includes Julian. Even though the two are very attracted to each other, there are threats looming on the horizon. Quinn has some real power to her and there are those who are going to come looking for her.
