These books are tiny, cute and pink! My daughter is *just* starting to learn how to read and these books are too advanced. They do show some simple words (sight words and such) but words like "unicorn" and "school" are certainly not meant for a brand new reader.Again cute as a button and my daughter loves having them read to her. There just isn't a very large assortment of words that are meant for a just starting reader.The only negative note that I have to this is the way I received this item. The little box was crushed and smashed into a tiny shipping box. Needless to say, this item (being a paper box) was also crushed and smashed. The books were in good condition, but the box was utterly destroyed. I would have returned them but for the fact that my daughter had already seen the books and didn't wish to be deprived of them. Shame on the shipper, it was OBVIOUS that the packaging was too small.

I bought these to encourage her to start reading on her own.It's a super cute (and tiny) box set. There are 12 books; however, the packaging is a little misleading. Along with the books, inside the box is a spacer that is used to fill the empty space so it looks like you're getting more than you really are. I don't know what the point of that was.

Short and long vowel practice By Sarah Vargas This is a nice set of practice readers for kindergarten to first grade, a child who is learning to read and needs work on sight words and reading fluency. The books are very short and simple, far too easy for a second grader or even a first grader who reads at the proper level. The product description said the books align with the Common Core so I expected the package to contain some information about how they support the standards, but there was nothing.If you are looking for a cute set of books for a young girl to practice with, these are an adorable and entertaining set. There isn't any instruction other than the vowel sounds though, so if you are looking for any phonics instruction and application, these books would have to be paired with another book of instruction and used for supplemental practice. There is one book for each short vowel and one book for each long vowel.Overall, this is a nice, but brief set of books.
