This book is much better than the books that my friends are using. I see that I understand more from using this book.

Diagnostic tests and understandable explanations to problems were a real plus By Salena Fernandez A few of my classmates were using this book so I check it out. I like the layout of the book and the diagnostic tests were great to get a feel for how I was doing on the different topics tested on the exam. The chapters are organized by topics which allowed me to focus on learning related concepts. Plenty of practice material and the biggest plus was the solutions that I could understand. I learned from comparing my explanations and was able to improve my understanding of AP physics and my performance on questions. Big difference in my testing results.

As an experienced AP teacher I recommend this book By Steve Wallace Being a high school physics teacher for over 20 years, I have to disagree with other reviews by teachers’ who didn’t see the obvious benefits of this book to AP students (probably because of their lack of experience). I teach AP physics classes every year and my students get mostly 5’s. Many students from our school end up at Ivy League colleges and other top-rated schools and we take great pride in it!What these other teachers don’t seem to understand is that it doesn’t matter how many of each type of questions are on the exam. What matters is that a student is able to answer correctly as many questions as possible and get the highest possible score! Focusing on the exact structure of the exam is missing a bigger picture.To be able to do this, students need to build a solid foundation first and then keep practicing physics problems. I personally use the philosophy of athletic coaching: have your team do lots of warm up exercise each and every day. The fact that they won’t have to do push-ups during the game doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be doing them during practice! And this book is the best for it because it offers a great variety of questions that test a broad scope of physics knowledge. It has a great combination of theoretical and calculation-based questions. Questions are multiple-choice, and multiple-choice questions are 50 out of 55 questions on the exam.Those quantitative questions that some teachers think are too many are the necessary practice for students who want to master the skill and be able to utilize it efficiently on the exam.To think that students need less practice with questions that have less presence on the exam is a great mistake on any teacher’s part. Students need to practice those questions that are the most difficult on the exam – those will make the difference between a 4 and a 5 score.In summary, this book alone is not the answer (just like any other book for that matter). A combination of class instruction and practice will ensure the highest score. And this book is great for practice – and practice makes perfect.
