A large part of our curriculum and learning. Time is spent with process art. Art where children lead the way from starter ideas where there is no right or wrong way to a result but learning takes place though discovery and experiment.. Actin art is the PERFECT book for this .The photos are of real children trying out the activities. Genuine happy children not an artists impression and a drawn on smileThe materials are easy to find , mostly everyday objects and each activity has a list of materials needed. The book is well laid out easy to read and the children can look though independently to choose activities. Most of all this book is written by two experienced authors genuinely interested in Children getting more than a pretty picture from what they are doing , whole child learning . Google Maryann and Barbra the experience these ladies bring to this book is amazing . For anyone with children or working with children this book is the perfect addition to the library :)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Inspirational!! By Marie Faust Evitt I LOVE MaryAnn Kohl’s numerous art books and use them regularly in my preschool classroom. Action Art with Barbara Zaborowski tops them all!! The color photos, appealing layout and clear directions make Action Art easy and fun to use. The numerous tips, suggestions and “more ideas to explore” will help my students get the most out of each activity. It’s hard to decide whether to start off the new school year by playing art hockey with marbles and chopsticks or painting with an electric toothbrush or tossing cotton balls dipped in paint!! I know these experiences will appeal to children who rarely pick up a paintbrush as well as those who spend most of their time creating art. As MaryAnn says in her introduction, “Children learn by doing, and if they enjoy the doing, they will learn.” My preschool class is going to learn so much through these activities!!
