From the Author If you've read STARFORGERS, Book One of the STAR SAGA, you'll enjoy this short novella about Devon Ardel. Devon's Blade takes place a couple years after STARFORGERS when Devon is assigned to a struggling fighter squadron on a remote water planet.I had lots of fun writing this story about starfighter pilots. I based the action on real air combat tales from WWII to present day. Readers have enjoyed the added sense of realism this brings to a Science Fictional universe. If you're making your way through my books, your next stop will be THE RISING, Book Two of the STAR SAGA. Happy reading!
About the Author Ken McConnell studied film making at the University of Central Florida and served with distinction as an NCO in the USAF. He now resides in Boise, Idaho with his wife and two sons. Ken works as a software build engineer by day and writes in his spare time.

It was refreshing to see that this story was a short vacation from the war, and focused more on the characters and conflicts that inhabit the small ocean planet Devon finds herself on. The ship battles that take place in this book reminded me more of World War dogfights, and less of the large-scale deep space laser battles that you see in so many other scifi books. An enjoyable short read!

Good sci-fi read with echos of WWII By Michel Czimbalmos Devon't Blade is about a squadron of (space) fighter pilots stationed on a backwater planet made up of mainly that--water. The squadron is having a hard time keeping the upper hand against the elusive enemy when Devon takes over as CO. The narrative reads more like a WW II fighter pilot story than space opera, which is absolutely fine by me! The novella is easy to read with action galore. I'd have liked some more characterization, which is the reason for the 4 stars. Recommended!

The author does an excellent job of building the characters side-by-side with the action. In short, it is about a fighter squadron’s struggles against faster craft and a skillful, enemy ace that is keeping the good guys down. I would love to see more novelettes that have similar themes with as much action.
