About the Author Donovan Day attended Columbia University where he studied creative writing. This is his first novel and it's intended for young adults although he thinks everyone will enjoy it. His short stories have appeared in several literary journals. A native of Oxford, Mississippi, he still lives there but spends a fair amount of time in the Yankee north. He is a longtime fan of The Beatles, having inherited his grandfather's exquisite taste in rock and roll. This is his debut novel. He is on Twitter @donovanday18 and has an author page on Facebook. Beatles story for young and old By LGM02 Let me start by saying I am a 13-year-old Beatles fan, and this book was given to me as a gift by someone who knows me pretty well. I read it in two days because once I got into it, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. The author really "gets" the personalities of The Beatles, and from what I know of them, everything seemed pretty accurate. I'm already interested in classic rock bands, but I think this book could make more young people take interest in The Beatles and other musicians from that time since many are mentioned in the story.This was definitely a different take on a story about The Beatles, but that's what made it interesting. Some of the "alternate universe" scenes where John Lennon was alive seemed a little too strange and a bit goofy to me, and sometimes I found it hard to understand how the time traveling actually worked. But I believe the main point of the book was to make you think, "What would really happen if John Lennon was still alive?" and from that perspective, I liked the unique mix of time-hopping and The Beatles story. I would recommend this to my friends for sure!

I'm a busy working mother that doesn't get much time for pleasure reading anymore so when I read a novel I want it to be fun, and this fulfilled that and more! As a huge fan of The Beatles, it made me nostalgic for a time I wasn't even alive. I was born a year before John Lennon was killed and was raised on their music. I never knew a time when they were a band, but this book brought that to life for me, and from what I can tell, there are a lot of facts intertwined. It's a definite for any Beatles fan that can let their imagination go wild with some time travel. Maybe I liked this because I was raised in the age of "Back to the future!" I think if you were alive during the time of the fab four, this would bring back lots of great memories and if you were raised post breakup, this gives you a unique fictional glimpse behind the scenes of a different time. There are other great classic rock figures peppered throughout. The concept is clever, the amazing songs were in my head and all in all, this is just a really fun read!

This time-traveling tale makes it possible for its characters. As a die-hard Beatles fan, I was a bit skeptical to read this at first, but taken as a fantasy novel it was easy to suspend reality and get lost in the story. The intertwining of modern-day teens with The Beatles when they were just a little older than that themselves works quite well. The author does a nice job of capturing the wit and dialect of the Fab Four, and also manages to mix in many other 'players' from that classic '60s era of rock music.I think what I liked the best, though, was how this story exuded the spirit that can only truly be felt by the young...teenage longing, a sense of unbridled adventure, and the idea that you can change the world -- even if it means changing the past -- and the consequences that go along with all of it. But I don't mean to get "heavy" -- this book is a fun romp, and anyone who is young or ever was could enjoy it. It's also a chance to escape to a dream that many of us have probably had: Getting to hang out with the "lads" as our friends. :)
