About the Author Mark Latham is a writer, editor and games designer from Staffordshire, UK. After graduating with an MA in English literature from the University of Sheffield, Mark went on to become the editor of White Dwarf magazine, and then the managing editor of Games Workshop's games development team, before finally becoming a full-time author of novels, short stories and games. A keen amateur historian, Mark is fascinated by the nineteenth century, leading to the production of the popular tabletop games Legends of the Old West, Trafalgar and Waterloo for Warhammer Historical. The author lives in Radcliffe-on-Trent, UK.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good sci fi/horror read By J. Allison Bug Hunts is a short read covering a wide territory. It describes a variety of very nasty insectoid and arachnoid species that interfere with or combat man’s expansion into the galaxy. The book also describes man’s answer to these swarms in the form of Space Marines and their equipment. The purpose of this exercise is to make a handy guide to the creatures and conflicts shown in a litany of science fiction and horror movies. Such movies include the Aliens franchise and Starship Troopers. This guide could be used for setting up several different campaigns in a role playing game or wargame. I found it just plain entertaining. A note on size: At 80 pages this is a fairly slim volume, but it is typical for an Osprey book and makes for a tidy afternoon read.
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. It was good, but I expected a little bit more story. By matt I enjoyed the read, but the wepaon\tactics section was boring and poorly thought out. The story in the form of a short history was good but could have delved a little deeper and been longer. There were mentions of a few characters but no real development. I read this all on an airplane and is a good pursue for that type of reading.

Written like bacground fluff material for a game, almost want to see Osprey make a game based on the material from this book in their Blue Cover series. Inspired from other classic alien type stories like Aliens, Tyranids from Warhammer 40k, and such.
