3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Only for hard core fans. By ChickJ I loved the series After. When I saw there was another book in the series, I snapped it right up. Unfortunately this one isn't up to the first 6. Just so much doom, it feels like it is an impossible that anything good will happen. I love the characters, Rachel, DeVontay, Franklin but the new ones leave me cold. I couldn't care less about them. The fight and hope from the first series is sorely lacking. This is a book only for fans of the series. New readers shouldn't start with this book.I am hoping the next one gets back on track.
5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic By Marburg I read the entire After series and was sad to see it end so imagine my delight when I found out Afterburn came out. Basically this book takes place five years after the original series ended. It picks up with Rachel and DeVontay and the two children along with the mutant Zap baby. The book is well paced, reads like a complete novel (you don't have to read the other books before it but I highly recommend you do). Scott Nicholson is a master at his craft and I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is into horror and post apocalyptic stories. A touch of humor, horror, romance, action, science fiction all rolled into one rollicking good read.

By stevekratz If you like the post apocalyptic "life style" this is a fast paced trip through a survival course of mutant creatures, aliens and humans with mostly bad intentions. Some creative plot twists keep things interesting for the reader but at the end of the day it's a challenge for any author to bring something new to this well worn genre. Scott Nicholson does a yeoman like job keeping the reader engaged.
