Review “A comics-inspired delight from France--the graphic-novel publishers first picture book--introduces an appealingly feisty girl to a U.S. audience. This tidy little package could inspire an uptick in bedtime exuberance. Happily, another outing with Anna and company is planned.” ―Kirkus, starred review

As you can see from the cover illustration, it doesn't work out so well. There's Fuzzball who can't figure out how to use the beaters and sends the bowl of chocolate flying. Kids will LOVE seeing the chocolate being flung around the room. It may make even you giggle. This illustration reminded me of the time I thought it would be a creative idea to fingerpaint with chocolate pudding in my kindergarten class and I saw the chocolate pudding dribbling down the metal legs of the table to the carpet below. Sigh! So, the plot thickens, even if the cake doesn't. Grizzler, the bear, shows up with a cake he claims that he made. The other characters can't believe it and follow Grizzler to see how and where he got this cake. This is a fun little story with lots of small illustrations on one page, so might be difficult to read as a class but good one on one. Children will enjoy the mess and it may inspire them to cook. You can use the book as a lesson in what NOT to do when you cook.Better have some cake ready afterwards as it will make you hungry - or maybe go to the local cupcake store as a treat after reading it.

It's also quite easy to read and would make a nice beginning reader By Nicola Mansfield This is a children's picture book presented in a graphic novel format with text inside comic bubbles. There is no narrative. I have to say that the story was incredibly cute though very short. It's also quite easy to read and would make a nice beginning reader. This is a sequel to "Sleep Tight, Anna Banana", which I haven't read, and while this book doesn't actually tell you it is pretty easy to guess that Anna's "friends" are her stuffed animals. The story is simple as they all gather together to bake a cake and one character, Fuzzball, is hilarious and will have pre-schoolers laughing. The illustration is adorable as well.

In this installment she wants to bake a cake and gets them all involved! This book would be great to read to children who have a great imagination just like the main character.
