By Michael Roberts I was pretty excited when I started the book because the premise seemed interesting but there are to many inconsistencies that eventually drove me crazy. For one thing the author never explains how they got all the resources to feed, armor, and otherwise provision 1 million people for 20 years when they were in a prison. Was this prison in a dimensional pocket? Was it in another land? I have no idea.The MC somehow uses magic in his cell to contact one of his men but then can't unless he is in the corridor?When they get out of prison the MC splits his forces into three and when one portion gets into a confrontation with the empires forces they say that one portion has as many soldiers as the entire Imperial Army but for some reason they still need to find allies in the lands of the empire? How many bad guys are in the enemy forces? I don't know but apparently its enough that a force of a million soldiers and a couple of hundred thousand mages in unbreakable Dragonsteel armor struggle with it and need allies to face a foes that fights with stone weapons. I like a good fantasy but there are two many details missing in this story and it just got irritating. Would have gotten 1 star but the idea was interesting. Waste of money don't buy.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good book hurt by horrible editing By Nagarash This book had fantastic potential that was destroyed by horrendous editing. Not only were there numerous misspelled words, but in places entire thoughts were left unfinished. In other places continuity was destroyed by ever changing dates,times, places, and names. This is a diamond in the rough but without a good editor to put a solid polish on in it it is just a wasted lump of rock. I truly hope the author takes the time and needed effort to turn this book into the gem that it could be

It felt like a classic good vs. evil story and had some originality in the plot development. I noticed some editing errors but nothing that could not be overcome. I thought it was detailed and had a very interesting array of characters and a great plot development. The multiple levels of conspiracy were very well interwoven into the story and not too boring or long to understand how they tied together in the actual story and the story was very intricate yet easy to follow with a constant comfortable flow of one chapter to the next. I like the new idea regarding the feeding of the armies with a magical food that sustains them. Instead of the normal baggage trains with food stockpiled and delivered as in all the other stories I have read over the years. That was a nice change. But over all this was an excellent book and I just wish the author had a website or page to go to so that I could see when his next book would be available in this saga. Let alone learn a little about the author as his readers I am sure would appreciate it. Again this book was an excellent good vs evil fantasy complete with wonderful characters and stories behind them and I cannot wait for the next book please make it known of when that will be....
