Johnson One of the most common myths about socialism is that it works very well in Sweden & Norway. This book makes it clear that this is a myth when you look at the facts. The main reason these countries have done well is that before they ever started down the road to socialism, they were already very rich countries with strong property rights and very few poor people. So their experiment with socialism has actually worsened the lot of the common people when compared to earlier times. Author is not a conservative or a libertarian, he actually believes in the welfare state, but he is honest enough to see that Sweden and Norway have gone too far and this has become destructive to the welfare of the people overall.

The author demonstrated clearly and effectively what must be present in a country's social culture to make successful social programs work.
