By Michelle@Book Briefs I absolutely loved Caged in Winter by Brighton Walsh, so when I saw Captive was also by her I knew I had to read it ASAP. I have only read one other book about a girl falling for her captor, and it is a tricky subject for me. It is not something I could initially see myself doing in her situation, so in the past I have been wary of that idea, but I liked the first book I read with this theme. And I have to say Captive was great! I really, really liked it. Brighton Walsh write great characters that lend themselves to excellent romances. Within the first two pages of meeting Madison, I caught myself nodding my head along with her and thought to myself, "yep, been there done that." (note: I am not talking about the mother incident. I am talking about the getting dressed incident.) And just like that, I could identify with Madison. I know that may seem small, but it is the little details and unassuming sentences throughout the story that start to turn into magic with Captive. I just love Brighton Walsh's writing style.Madison appears on the surface to lead a perfect life. She is super smart, super rich, and basically can have anything that she wants. But she doesn't have many (or any) friends, she is constantly taking care of her alcoholic mother, and her father is MIA all the time. I could feel her loneliness. It was a tangible thing throughout the whole story. And that just about broke my heart. But even though Madison was lonely and sad, she never gave up. This girl had spunk to spare. I loved that even when she was captured she was always paying attention, always looking for when and how she could make her next move. It made me admire the heck out her. And it gained Ghost's admiration too.Captive is told mostly from Madison's point of view, but Ghost - or Gage- had a fair share of chapters spread throughout. I loved Gage's chapters because the more I got to know him the more I loved him. How can you not when you find out why he took the job? That is as close to a good reason as I could ever dream up. Brighton Walsh did such an excellent job making her characters redeemable. And she made the romance feel so very real. And so wonderful. I think Madison and Gage would have fallen for each other no matter how they met. Brighton Walsh made me a believer in captive/captor romances. Or at the very least, she made me a believer in hers. Brighton Walsh will make you swoon, make you feel, make you fall in love with Gage and Madison in Captive. If you have not read one of her books, you should. Right now.*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.

In fact, I tend to avoid them, for a number of reasons. However, after reading Brighton Walsh’s “Caged in Winter,” which I loved, by the way, I was more than willing to give this book a try. It’s just unfortunate that the book’s theme was the least of my problems.I hate to say it, but “Captive” was a boring read. There was a lot of repetitiveness going on. The characters repeated themselves so often that I started skimming, though some of it could be attributed to the monotony of their situation. The inner monologues drove me nuts. The characters were in their heads too much. Oftentimes, it read more like a diary than anything else. There wasn’t enough dialogue for me. I wanted interaction. More action in general would’ve made a world of difference.Of course, it didn’t help matters that the characters were stuck inside a tiny cabin out in the middle of nowhere, cut off from everyone, thirty minutes outside of the nearest town. In the span of four days, Ghost, our hero, and Madison, our heroine, go from avoiding one another—barely speaking—to having sex. Basically, the moral of the story is that not everything is as it seems. Ghost, a rough, heavily muscled, heavily tattooed beast of a man is really just a big ol’ softy. And Madison, a young, shy, insecure woman eventually learns to speak up for herself. The writing wasn’t bad, but the plot was too thin. The reason behind the kidnapping wasn’t that much of a mystery to me, either. I like this author’s work, so I seriously doubt this will be the last book I read of hers.

By The Unofficial Addiction Book Fan Club We are The Unofficial Addiction Book Fan Club, to know more about this book, go to the post in our website.REVIEW:Captive is one of those stories that would surprise you and captivate you from the very first page. What's pulls you into the story is not only the amazing plot, but also its characters. While everything seems clear and you might end drawing your own conclusions for Ghost's job and Madison's wealthy family, not everything is what it looks like. Madison's quiet, reserved and kind. She's taking care of a mother with some issues who have never cared for her and a father who spends more time at work than at home. She's a nice character that as a reader myself I can say that is easy to like and to identify yourself with because she's approachable and easy to understand.Ghost, on the other hand, is supposed to be a bad guy, right? He's the one responsible of Madison's kidnapping, so it should be easy hate him. But not everything's what it look likes. Under all that, he's a good man, with a high morality and who ends up proving us, readers, that he's a perfect book boyfriend. One, who'll surprise you and make you fall in love with him.The story starts as the synopsis promises: getting to know Madison's life and being kidnapped by an uncaring Ghost. However, as the story progresses, The characters change and also their relationship. I was glad to be part of that transformation and get to know these two.As I have previously mentioned the plot is amazing and well-written. Brighton Walsh did an amazing job and the timeline is perfect. I felt included in the story as an spectator and fascinated by the revelations that I found. I haven't read any other book written by Brighton Walsh, but Captive made me consider reading other books she has published in the past. As well as putting in my to-read shelf her next book in the Captive series.I loved to find that this story was everything I expected but also had the time to surprise me and captivate me. I highly recommend it to those readers searching for a fantastic and dangerous New Adult Romance where the main characters find love in the most unexpected places.
