This book should be an essential part of every teacher’s, naturalist’s, and parent’s library. It is a treasure for those who strive to inspire children to enjoy and embrace the wonder of our natural world. (Frank Helling, U.S. National Park naturalist, storyteller, and educator)The Sharing Nature approach and games not only reconnect us with nature, but also with the profound natural wisdom of our planetary ancestors. This is one of those rare books that make you wonder, "Where has this book been all of these years?" This new version of "Sharing Nature" is revised and expanded to include classic Joseph Cornell activities like "Journey to the Heart of Nature, " and "Sunset Watch," though the new activities are not the only reason to buy this book. The book is, simply put, beautiful. The design, layout, color, and inspiring photos make this old classic a new wonder.Perhaps, the most useful portion of the book is the explanation of the "Flow Learning" sequence. Explained simply in four stages, Flow Learning has changed the way I teach and coach. I now structure classes and practices with more intention and with sensitivity to how the activity is being perceived and processed by the participants.Parents too will benefit from this book. It is no secret that our children are spending less and less time outside in Nature. Many parents want to get their children more connected to the natural world, but may lack a "bag of tricks" about what to do in that space. "Sharing Nature" has a plethora of great activities, as well as a plan as how to order them, for adults wanting to get their children more connected to the Earth.David BlanchettePhysical Education- Punahou SchoolHonolulu, Hawaii
